Namaste ,

My wife( 33 yrs old )is pregnant with our second child for 5 weeks. We live in

USA and so will have to depend on Allopathy. Our first child was delivered

normally , but mother ended up with second degree tears. .

1. I searched the group for pregnancy diet documents , but could not find any.

2. Can she do any sort of mild yoga postures that would help in child birth ?

3.She is getting a lot of pounding headaches. How can we treat it?

4.Ayurvedic doctor had mentoned that she is of Vata prakruthi. Our diet is South

Indian vegetarian consisting of rice, sambhar , dal, vegetables etc. What

vegetables and fruits are best for her ? Currently its still summer here and its

very hot and humid.

Any other advise will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and regards.

Janardan

Many more are there but most of the material is covered in above three. Many

other questions may arise, which are discussed in other posts such as 1200,

1233, 3388. Headache is a typical symptom with or without nausea/vomiting

sensation vertigo during this trimester. remedies are suggested in above posts.

Baba Ramdev has suggested many yoga postures to strengthen pelvic region for

smooth normal birth. Yoga Poses can help in dealing with the symptoms of

Pregnancy, ensuring smoother and easier delivery, and faster recovery after

childbirth. This is because Vata is balanced. In sharp contrast, the Iron

suppliments of modern science cause c onstipation and weaken the very force that

causes normal birth! Yoga and few bastis of panchkarma is all that is needed to

ensure normal, " at home " child birth, if nutrition is also taken care.

Poses that put pressure on the abdomen and other difficult poses

should not be done during advance stages of Pregnancy. It is not

necessary to do all these Asanas and remember not to push yourself on

a pose. If you are interested in practicing yoga during your

pregnancy, be aware that certain postures should be avoided (such as

those that involve laying on the back or belly. These poses can be

read in more detail at the websites along with detailed asanas with

pictures.

A list of Asanans:

1. Mountain Pose (Tadasana)

2. Triangle Pose (Trikonasana)

3. Warrior Pose

5. Standing Side Stretch Pose

6. Standing Spread Leg Forward Bend

7. Seated Forward Bend (Paschimothanasana)

8. Hero Pose (Virasana)

9. Upavista Konasana

10. Fish Yoga Pose (matsyendrasan)

11. Cat Pose (Bidalasana)

12. Inverted Postures and Balance Poses: (Only under guidance, keep

watching your breathing, pulse etc)

- Headstand (Sirshasana)

13. Tree Yoga Pose

14. Plough Pose (Halasana)

15. Sage Twist Yoga Pose (Marichyasana)

16. Shoulder Lifts

In addition, some warming up exercises, pranayama:

17.Neck Exercises

18 Ujjayi Pranayama

19 Corpse Pose: most important for relaxation at end.

20 Neck Rol

21 Shoulder Roll

22 Toe and Foot Stretch

23 Cat and Cow

24 Childs Pose

25 Pelvic Tilt

26 Chest Expansion

27 Baddha konasana

28 Squatting

Many more precautions, details of poses, photos, videos etc can be

had from.

Despite what is written here and on these websites, final advise is

" listen to your body " , it is not you alone, but even your baby is

doing yoag with you. In Indian mythology, story goes that Prince

abhimanyu learnt the technique of defeating a certain war formation

termed " Chakravyuha " in womb itself, when Lord Sri Krishna was

teaching the technique to Subhadra, Abhimanyu's mother. A pregnant

women's desires/cravings are often those of the unborn baby. perhaps

Abhimanyu wanted to know, so Subhadra wanted to know the war

technique. Later in youthful years, without anybody's guidance,

Abhimanyu successfully defeated charkavyuha, arranged by Guru

Dronacharya. A great Guru was surprised to accept defeat from the son of his

disciple!

So in short, are you willing to give birth to a yogi? Go ahead,

Indian Guru Baba Ramdev is with you.

Thank you Acharya Ji. I got the CD from my friend. Its very useful. But I was

not sure if the Pranayams mentioned by Baba Ramdev can be done in the first

trimester itself.
