Guest guest
A lot of people want to learn about ayurveda, but the general thinking is that this is something which can be done in a few hours on a lazy Sunday afternoon or better still by reading some books. I have contacted many schools in my vicinity offering them a lecture in ayurveda. There is very good enthusiasm at the start. We will do this, we will do that. But ultimately it comes to nothing. Apparently they have more serious matter to take care of. Another factor which is a stumbling block is that each person or organisation thinks that this is a novel idea and try to start from scratch. Also the thought that an ayurveda doctor should be consulted does not even arise. A lot of work has been done (without much success due to a variety of reasons) which needs to be evaluated and carried on further. If you are located in Goa and are serious about your work I can suggest you some ayurvedic doctors who can help. Also you can contact Ayurveda Seva Sangh, Nashik who have a monthly publication called Ayurved Patrika (ayupatra). The Feb 1996 issue of the same was a special edition dealing with the topic of " Ayurveda in School Syllabus " (shaleya abhyaskramat ayurved). Get a copy of the same. You will get much material to work on. Lastly wishing you all the best in your endevour. If you want to do the same work anywhere in or near Mumbai please feel free to contact me. Vd. Create some awareness at school level. Holding exhibition of Medicinal plant and their medicinal value.
Guest guest
Thank you Vd. S.M.Shirodkar, I met Dr. Mrinal Joshi today who is working with Govt. Health services for last 15 years. I feel that we should write some street plays, one act plays, stories in relation to Ayurved to make it known to people. We are working to do one documentary on Ayurved. We will be doing regular program on alternative medicine here in Goa.

Guest guest
We need to spread more and more awareness in all stratas of society. A very glamorous looking friend came to condole my husband's death and I was narrating to them how his shrunk kidneys had come back to normal with ayurvedic treatment. This was 25 days before he died all his functions were absolutely normal, but once he went to the hospital and the doctors there told me that because of the strong doses he has had a multiple organ failure. all the organs that were functioning so well collapsed just in 2 days. After hearing all this sha told me that ayurvedic medicines are so strong so that must have caused the failure. Her words against the doctor's own. Another was a mali who suffered from diahrrea. I asked him to have isabgol and curds but he said memsab we cannot do with out English medicines and injections.

Guest guest
Getting this information into the family home is likely to result in the continued application of Ayurvedic practices of the future. Target audiences being young moms/families - as they generally provide the basic daily patterns that shape the next generations lives, the choices they make. School can perhaps provide some benefit but the young person will generally opt for the applied knowledge of homelife into their adulthood. Are you looking at an elementary or high school(ages 14+) for your target audience? ______________ This is a very good idea as we have teach basic ideas to kids.Or we may end up in histroy books. Guest guest
It is said that you teach a mother ,you teach the whole family. I would suggest to make a programme for the mothers. Whereby the whole family should be taught. Children will pick up automatically. These can be the grassroot mothers or the high flying ones as none of them may know .whereas the grannies the servants and the tribals may know more. Even I do not know much but I do know that there are some foods that should not be taken together and that water should not be taken after fruits or that curds are best avoided after noon. etc.
