Guest guest
I read this on an Ayurveda site. However, I thought if you were hypoglycemic, you should avoid sweets: FOR DROWSINESS Drowsiness can be cor-rected by taking some sweet juice, such as pomegranate or sweet orange juice. Reactive hypoglycemia occurs when the pancreas, often in response to a large intake of sugar, secretes too much insulin, which then reduces the blood sugar level. This is also called postprandial (after-eating) hypo-glycemia. About 90 minutes after eating, the blood sugar level drops, and the person craves something sweet. Guest guest
Response for Drowsiness... One must look first at what intake of food they have eaten. If one has incorrect food combining that will also cause drowsiness. In Ayurveda it is important to follow proper food combining. This is to say that Meat and Veggie= as long as it is not a starch. Veggie + Starch= Fruits to be eaten alone..then wait 30 min before consuming something else. This aids in regulating blood sugar levels due to proper digestion. When one eats heavy meal with meat, then the it takes more time for digestion to break down,...during this time after heavy meal one gets sleepy. This is natural part of digestion. Limit starches to complex ones, ie: steel cut oats vs baked potato. Fruit best eaten in the Am with digestive spice. Hope this will assist you in attaining balance.
