Guest guest Posted March 19, 2009 Report Share Posted March 19, 2009 Hi, Mu husband has high level of cholestrol His report shows Cholestrol:240mg/dl and triglyceride 350 He age is 34 and he is medium build 5'7 " (65 kg weight) Is there any ayurvedic treatment for lowering cholestrol?Since we are staying in USA we are very much intersted in knowing the ayurvedic treatment for loweing cholestrol as we cannot go to vaidya personally. Water melon seeds 15 -20 gramms roasted and eaten are a tasty snack as well as good for High BP. As you in the US are using different figures for cholesterol, I do not know what these figures mean. So I'm answering in general. Certainly there are many good things in ayurveda to lower cholesterol. Cholesterol is un-digested fat. It is related to low agni and often to diet loaded with poor quality fats. Tendency for high cholesterol is inherited. High cholesterol is not bad per se, more important is the ratio of LDL and HDL cholesterol. HDL is the " good cholesterol " while the LDL is the " bad cholesterol " . The key is to balance these two. Avoid: - Margarine - Butter - Meat - Deep-fried foods - Chips / Tacos / Popcorn - Bakery made cookies / biscuits - Absolutely avoid all junk food Favor: - Green vegetables, salads - Rapeseed oil - Linseed oil - Ghee (in moderation) - Garlic (if not practicing meditation) - Fenugreek seeds - Fenugreek greens Regimen: Stop all junk food, snacks, deep fried foods, meat and butter. Stop all bakery made bisquits and cookies, sweets, chokolade bars etc. Stop snacking. Eat three meals a day, regularly regular. Main meal should be at time when sun is the hottest (around 12:00 - 12:30) Make more use of garlic. Take every mornging 1 tsp fenugreek seeds soaked over night, and drink also the liquid. The diet should be kapha pacifying . Decrease all types of fat content like butter , meat , potato , sweet potato , sugar contained food , deep fried food , preserved food , chilled food or drinks . Sweating should be done to reduce the fat content . Steam bath is the best option . In herbs it is adviced to take perfect medication as per ur own body constitution . For that u have to consult some Vaidya either nearby or by online consultation . Generally u can use guggulu kalpa to reduce the cholesterol . BUt the individual medicines differ as per many things . Exercise of brisk walking for 40 min a day is the best option . Drink 500 ml of warm water in the morning empty stomach . Two tablespoons of honey and three teaspoons of Cinnamon Powder mixed in 16 ounces of tea water, if given to a cholesterol patient, it reduces the level of cholesterol in the blood by 10% within 2 hours. If taken 3 times a day ( the same quantity divided into three equal parts), any chronic cholesterol is cured. As per the information/feedback received , pure honey taken with food daily generally relieves complains of cholesterol. ADD exercises or brisk walking in the morning daily for 25 to 30 minutes. I have been taking a heaped teaspoon of cinnamon powder and a teaspoon of honey all mixed up in warm water, half an hour before food in the morning. I have been trying many other treatments without success for the past 20 yrs. Your husband must try this.
