Dear Learned People,

My son, who is 5, maybe having a case of ADD, where he can not pay attention to

any one thing for long.

The teachers are concerned that this is coming in the way of his learning. I

don't feel comfortable with the alopathic medicines. SO can you please offer any

suggestions or guidance?

We would appreciate that!!

Vani

It is not clear from your posting but have you done all of the normal diet

changes (like taking out coloring, sugar, processed foods... - including whole

foods diet...etc...)?  Do you immunized?  Attend public school?  Is this an

issue at school and home?  Other health concerns?  More info would be great to

get a clearer view of the situation.

Health and Peace,

Michelle

Vani . ADD or ADHD can be treated with longer treatment duration . There r many

combinations of herbs which can increase his concentration . But some more

points should be known about his body type .

Shirodhara , nasya works well by nourishing the Brain cells . Generally

Vata aggravation is the main cause of ADD .

Hi Michelle,

Thanks for the response.

Sorry I didn't provide other details.

We have cut down a lot of processed food. He eats a lot of vegetables too.

We live in US and he goes to public school so had to have him immunized although

we waited until it was almost time for school.

He has other issues too. He had hydrocephalus pretty much from birth ( 6

months). We had the surgery done at 18 months.

Since then he improved a lot but still can use a lot of help.

He is delayed in lot of ways - physical, speech etc. He speaks quite well now,

but started speaking at 3. He started walking at 18 months. He loves to eat and

is a little over weight.

He is very happy and healthy otherwise.

He gets PT/OT/Speech therapy at school.

Recently this ADD was a observation at school. They believe he can do way better

if he can focus more.

So, he had a rough road so far but he is a very happy and lovable child!!

He is not on any medication.

Is there something that we can do to help him??

We would really appreciate that.

Regards,

Vani
