Guest guest
I once heard a Hare Krishna Swamiji preach that if you tried to make sense of the reality in front of you, and the one underneath or beyond, and kept on trying to discover and to integrate one reality after another into your understanding, you will ultimately reach God " without any exception " ! So seems to be true in my search for a cure for Schizophrenia. One cure after another and every time I thought that I had found it this time, I had to " go the distance " again to find a different method because the last one did not quite work -- frustrating and enlightening at the same time. I have already told the group about various modalities of treatment I underwent one after the other. One led me to another until I realized that the cure I was looking for was already there with me, with the God that I worshipped everyday! Those who are reading my posting for the first time should search for previous posts with the same title. If you were familiar with the new age writings/channellings, you would know that each and every disease is a " lesson in learning " -- to correct a behavioral pattern in your current or past incarnations. Another way of saying the same thing is that you are being punished for your improper/sinful behavior from your past. Or else, there is no disease! I have met a few people who chain smoked and ate chemical-laden beef for a long time and did not witness too many health problems if at all! The secret here, again quoting from a new age book, is a " neutral " karmic imprint, meaning a karmic profile of no sinful actions from the past or no previous patterns that are waiting to be provided a lesson for. If one has not sinned in the past, he cannot contract a disease as long as he does not commit additional sins in this life. Also, a sin committed in the current lifetime may or may not get punished in the next life -- the laws of karma are very complex indeed. The karmic theory of action and retribution is well-known to all of us. What I would like to point out here is that the length of the " karmic retribution " or the " lesson in learning " is predetermined to some extent and no treatment modality can cure you of a disease prior to the designated end. And then when the end time closes in, many of us get cured even without any medicines! No wonder, allopathy claims 24% success rate with curing Schizophrenia within a 5-year time period using antipsychotics that are otherwise lethal for your digestive system (I have already mentioned the side effects of the meds I took over the last 10 years in one of my earlier posts). The fact is that Schizophrenia in most of the cases is not a disease of the " brain " which allopathy would have us convinced about, but that of the " mind " . Ayurveda recognizes the difference between the subtle " mind " and the " physical " brain. How many times has one shown up at the psychiatrist and the psychiatrist recommended that you get a CT Scan done or any other kind of test done to prove some kind of chemical imbalance in your brain, before concluding that you indeed have Schizophrenia? Almost never! Yet, they have " popularized " the theory that it is the " chemical imbalance " in your brain that causes Schizophrenia. What a cheat! In some cases, that may be true, but based on the feedback I received from a spiritual friend who is a psychiatrist, majority of the Schizophrenia patients have a problem with their " mind " ! So, the effort here from the popular medicine is to turn everything into a mechanized system of chemical imbalances and leave the subtle, the spiritual out so that people remain in the dark and keep taking those expensive and lethal pills for the rest of their lives! The pharmaceuticals are making billions of dollars a year - they would do whatever it takes to turn people away from the truth! As I said above, every disease has a predestined life span. Even Ayurveda cannot cure an illness prior to the end of the predestined period. In Ayurveda, a disease is curable only if the Karma allows for it. It's another fact that when a disease is indeed curable by this criterion, Ayurveda provides the safest way to heal your body. In India, where spirituality is built into the land, people after trying out all avenues of treatment, end up consulting a priest, do charities, perform austerities, or go on a pilgrimage -- all with one goal in mind -- to take care of the karma that is the root cause of the suffering. On many occasions, they get that " miracle " cure without taking any medicines or herbs. I have heard on many occasions that someone got cured of epilepsy or another serious disease when he or she visited the Sai baba ashrama. How is that possible? The keyword here is " mercy " . After sending us to the material world and providing us with a " free will " which we are almost certain of misusing during our lifetimes, the merciful God provided ways to receive his " mercy " or " love " that would simply nullify your previous karma. We cause incomprehensible suffering to others due to our free will and ignorance. Just imagine the torture at the modern slaughterhouses to the poor animals. Imagine undergoing it even for one lifetime! You may have a problem sticking even a pin into your neck! That is an example of something many of us today are part of -- while the karmic laws are complex, the karmic retribution coming out of eating that meat is not going to be an easy one! God is merciful. While he remembers the pain and suffering you caused to others, he forgives you when you show your love to him, BECAUSE he loves you unconditionally. I may sound like a preacher here, but it is as good a fact as many other scientific discoveries made to-date. The only problem with proving his unconditional love is that he made his love " experiential " rather than something that can be measured and proven in a laboratory. Love anyway is something that you feel and therefore know, you cannot prove it. Now, imagine knowing PRECISELY the suffering that someone caused to others, and then forgiving him! Well, that is exactly what God does -- that is the mercy coming out of the unconditional love that is there when you call upon it. It's deeper than any love that you may have realized in this or any of your lives - just meet a Hare Krishna monk who hails from a wealthy family in the US and now having left his family walks (sometimes barefoot) across the rural India to spread God's message to the ignorant! What keeps him blissfully marching down the dusty roads in the heat of the Indian summer? Next question that comes to mind is how to receive this love or mercy? Simple answer is - by following a spiritual path. As a Hare Krishna (Vaishnava), I can only tell you what I did and do. Apart from the daily " sadhana " (chanting, reading, kirtan, etc.), I observe " Ekadasis " -- they are special days for observing a fast. One of the benedictions for observing a fast on the ekadasis is the removal of karmic load that one is carrying, which is not limited to just diseases. Earlier I used to fast from grains and beans, but recently I observed a complete " no food, no water " fast on last 3-4 Ekadasis and the benediction that I got is that now I am no more on antipsychotics and am feeling much better! Prior to these ekadasis, I had a full set of mental symptoms despite the medicines (allopathic and herbal) that I was on! I hope that my experience will give hope to those who don't have any, despite much effort to get cured. Since removal of karmic load can affect any disease, I would highly recommend a spiritual practice to at least those who are suffering from a chronic illness that shows no signs of getting cured despite all efforts. (The intelligent take up a spiritual process even if they are not distressed as the distress may just be waiting around the corner) After living through it for last 12 years, I have realized that Schizophrenia is a rather serious disease. While one undergoes the severe paranoia, delusions, and hallucinations -- disabling him from living a normal life, his family looses someone they loved and cared for. Most diseases of the physical kind aren't so malevolent -- at least you retain the ability to think & make decisions, and you do not impact others around you so much! Treatment for such a disease should be undertaken rather seriously. My relentless search and God's mercy has afforded me the wisdom that I share with you on this newsgroup -- please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or know someone suffering from Schizophrenia -- I will be more than happy to help.
