Guest guest
Sara ! I think , as per ur posting , Pitta seems to be increased in the body due to some reason . May be u should go for non spicy , non oily , non sour food items in the meal . Instead u can take 1 tsf coriander powder 3 times a day with water after meals . Just observe the next period . Dont be panic at present . One should wait for the changes coming in the next period . Take upto 3 litres of water in the whole day . It will help u too . Have good & sound sleep in the night . Dont sleep very late in the night . ---------------------- I had black discharge along with my period which happened twice.and also got my periods after 22 days... Guest guest
The first fundamental principle in ayurvedic practice is not to treat the symptoms or disease, but to treat patient entirely after knowing his constitution, age, vitality, lifestyle, his environment, family background etc. When patient does not follow a lifestyle in harmony with his body's circadian rhythm, the foundation for the disease gets prepared. Thus a person getting up late in the morning, sitting whole day in artificial lights in air-conditioned office before the computer, returning late at night, stuffing the body with food and going to bed quickly thereafter in order to grab whatever sleep possible, will soon become constipated and toxins get generated. Poor digestion generates toxins, termed ama in ayurveda. The build up of ama reduces enegy produced, person feels fatigue, irregular hunger, gas, acidity, heavy uneasy feeling whole day. The temporary boost by soft drinks, tea, coffee, tobacco, smoking, gutakha (a preparation from tobacco and dangerous chemicals) exacerbates the indigestion and causes further build up of ama. Frequently, working ladies also undergo such stressful life, and those who are not working, have to await husband for late dinner and follow his unnatural lifestyle. The increasing level of ama in the body often causes proliferation of parasites, candida in intestines. The resulting symptoms often include excess salivation, drooling during the sleep, metallic taste in mouth, sudden attacks of anxiety, irritability, cravings for sweet, soft carbs, chocolates, anorexia. Ama causes slowing down of digestive juices, termed agni in ayurveda. The food does not convert to seven dhatus gradually. And whatever dhatus form, they are not pure, they are having impurities. One can assume ama mixes up in all dhatus, for a simpler understanding. The process of making dhatus can be compared to turning milk into ghee in various stages. At any stage if heat (agni) is inadequate, the intermediate product is containing impurities. Those who make ghee by boiling butter know that if ghee is not given heat for sufficient time, the ghee attracts rotting, attracting fungus soon. In grahani (duodenum), when conversion of rasa to rakta takes place, the rasa turn to mucous as a result of insufficient agni. If colon is functioning well, ama is eliminated through stools, they sink in water. If ama production is excessive, the state is known as mucosal colitis, IBS etc. The desire for elimination after meals warrants the investigation of such a possibility. Ama is not restricted to stomach, duodenum and intestines. When it goes to skin, it causes blemishes, itching etc. Clogging of arteries is what we are affraid due to high lipid levels. Clogging of the channels (strotas) affects transportation of nutrients, hair loss or graying is the first result in middle age or youth days. Menstruation becomes painful, scanty and maroon or blackish color in the extreme case. The discharge is erratic, often in the middle of cycle. Leucorrhoea before beginning of cycle, vaginal yeast are also experienced. Cycles become non-ovulatory and as a result hormonal imbalance, sets in. PCOS most often originates in such a state of the body. The treatment for such a state can not be stated by just few formulation names. Eliminating ama through detoxification or liver herbs, deepana (agni enhancing) herbs, changes in the diet to include probiotics, green vegetables, bitter ones, taking meals in quiet and happy surroundings without diversion from phone, T.V. etc, whole grains, avoiding ama causing combinations, breathing techniques….the list is too long. And very much patient specific. The truncal obesity, flabby muscles, protruding stomachs, overall general swellings due to water retention are common symptoms. The dark under- eye circles, skin blemishes, itching, dryness near big toes of the feet, swelling behind ankle bone, blemises on skin folds are well known sign for vaidyas to recognize ama build up. The major step in the treatment is building agni. Just as agni means digestive juices from stomach, liver, pancreas, it also means the secretions from glands. Once the agni of ovaries is weakened, the length and periodicity of menstrual cycles is disturbed. The character of the discharge is however much dependent on ama accumulation in uterus. Once the liver is detoxified, menstrual cycles improve slowly, in tune with ama-reducing changes in diet and lifestyle. Walking is a free and effective remedy. If trying to conceive, see if detoxification measures suggested in post#2765 can be used. You may be just in time to catch the spring season, starting from February 18th. 2 months following that day, nature helps all living world to conceive/grow. Guest guest
Hi, Black blood in periods and lighter periods usually means vata imbalance in the Ayurvedic system. You might want to consult an Ayurvedic book on how to reduce vata. Lifestyle factors- eg regular routines (sleep, meals, exercise, etc) , keeping the mind calm, eating in calm nourishing environment, staying warm and well nourished is all very important (more important than we give credit for). If you have signs of ama, you will first want to eliminate ama- a good Ayurvedic book can tell you how to do so. With reproductive issues, it generally takes a few months to get back into balance. So allow yourself some time to heal and know that your body has an amazing power to heal even with some simple lifestyle changes. Take good care ) lawren
