Dear All

I am suffering from the intermittent pain near Right Shoulder and

Neck.I have to take pain killer and hot water bottle treatment to

overcome it.

Is there anyway to increase the strength in these area to avoid it and

if it happens what is the best way to overcome it.

Hello Vikram

It would be best if you meet an ayurveda practitioner.

However, if it is not possible, author suggests two home

remedies, based on the season, pain location, type of

pain, and your attempts to relieve it.

1. Morning, take a clove of garlic in mouth, plus half

a cup of water, and chew the clove till it dissolves

in water. swallow water. It does not matter whether

you swallow crushed garlic or spit it out.

2. Twice a day, morning and evening, take a soup of green

leafy vegetable(Spinach, cabbage, mustard, fenugreek etc).

The receipe is:

Pluck the leaves and few stems of the leaves, put them

in a vessel, sprinkle little water over it, add few pieces

of 1/2 inch long fresh ginger, 1/2 tsp turmeric powder

and cook in pressure cooker till first whistle comes. Remove

cooker from fire and let cool. Drink the soup formed after

adding sea salt or saindhav salt to taste and 1/2 lemon

juice. Note that soup is mainly formed by steam

condensate and cellular water in leafy vegetable!

2. On first day evening, take about 50 ml sesame oil in a

cup. add dry ginger powder, ajwain powder, turmeric powder

each 1 tsp and let the cup float in simmering water. adjust

heat till some vapour comes from oil, but oil should not

boil. after about 2 hours add 4 peeled garlic cloves to

the oil and let heating continue garlic turns maroon color.

Now remove oil cup from the vessel and let cool. strain

with a cloth and bottle the oil. apply this oil to

sholder+neck area for 5 minutes. No heavy massage, just

rub with light pressure. after 10 minutes, put 500 grams

sea salt in a cloth handkerchief, tie a bundle. Put the

bundle on heated plate and apply it to shoulder+neck area.

This fomentation should be done everyday evening, for a

week. The oil prepared first evening will last for a week.

Your pains are most likely due to poor circulation

in the shoulder+neck area. Such problems occur in this season.

The remedies given attack this issue. Hot water bath should

also help you.

In case your pains are existing longer than a month, you should

see a practitioner instead of using pain relivers, saving your

lever.

Stop pain killer and report the success/failure after one week.

An old yogi trick is to do what ever to pump blood into the area… I did

Ti' Chi' for seven years every day back in the early 90's … One of the

many things I noticed was, that if you could work a problem area of

your body with your mind off of it, it would heal much quicker; and

sometimes almost immediately depending how old the injury was… You will

notice this with most pain… If another pain comes along and you have

forgotten about the other one, and then suddenly it dons on you that

the other one is gone… If there is any inflammation, then you'll have

to get the inflammation down before you work it too much… Noel
