Guest guest
There are so many pros and cons on coconut oil. Most say it is not heart healthy and some say go for it. It has me totally confused. My cholesterol is high to begin with so I'm a little leery of using it. So which is it good or bad?? I have read articles like the one above before and do have orgainc coconut oil in my cabinet...unopened. Does it interfere with your cholesterol? Peace and love Bonnie _________________ /message/7762

Guest guest
I have been using ev coconut oil for about a year now. My cholesterol level has not changed since I used it. I can say it has helped my thryoid but not to the level I would like it to. Everyone is different. Maybe I should increase the level . I do notice that I am not as hungry while using it. Maybe while on it one should check their levels often to see if it is ok to use the oil. Most people that I have talked to don't have any trouble with this oil . But that is the extra virgin oil. _________ There are so many pros and cons on coconut oil. Most say it is not heart healthy and some say go for it. It has me totally confused. Guest guest
Coconut oil is an excellent oil.? Yes, it is saturated fat but that is what our brain needs.? It also has medium chain fatty acids which are easy to digest.? We need good fats in our diet.?? Mary Enig, Ph.D. spent her entire scientific career studying fats and she?recommends it highly.? ?Recently I made her recipe for mashed potatoes using coconut milk instead of dairy.? The recipe included butter and coconut oil.? Very tasty.? If you do a Google search for her, you will learn the truth about fats and not propaganda from the commercial interests.?? Guest guest
Village culture teaches everything from experience and passing on facts from one generation to next. When turmeric, honey etc were not at hand for wound dressing, author witnessed use of a cloth dipped in coconut oil, applied as plaster band on wound and it would heal. The same oil was used by uncle to make an ointment for healing burns. The words such as anti-microbial, anti- fungal etc were learnt 20 years later! __________________ If you do a Google search for her, you will learn the truth about fats and not propaganda from the commercial interests.?? Guest guest
Jane: That is a good point. Everyone is different. What works great for several people may not work for certain individuals. One should always start out using new things judiciously; However this is a natural type oil that we are talking about. There is a fine line here. So one should probably best watch for awhile and see their cholesterol numbers after they get their lab results back. If it goes up too high after taking in this oil then one can deduce that it may be the oil. Same with blood pressure and diabetes meds. All good things, Rhobert
Guest guest
i use coconut oil. dr bhate pointed out about the use of coconut oil is applicable for wounds as well which i would concur as ghee is also used for wounds with amazing results. both are anti-pitta in nature so they will reduce heat and swelling etc. there is no doubt in my mind that coconut oil not only stimulates the metabolism but in what degree that has to be verified. professional models use coconut oil in their hair. i personally use it in my grooming as a hair gel. the wonderful thing about coconut oil is its density. it is much lighter than olive oil and at the same time it can be easily rinsed off. the oil has the amazing ability to be very light. that is why i recommend using it as a hair conditioner or hair gel as a matter of fact. it will also nuture your hair wonderfully. sincerely, raja gursahani

Guest guest
I am taking 80mg. of lipitor up from 40mg, plus I move around for 7 to 8 hours a day for my job, which brought it down from 240 to 173. Prior to taking the medication it was 327 so you can understand my hesitancy to put more fat into my diet. Especially one that is surrounded by controversy. Guest guest
Jane, I have been taking it for years and so far so good. I experience no adverse side effects and have blood work done periodically to be sure of this. Both mum and dad had high cholesterol, so I guess I'm a victim of circumstance. Peace and love Bonnie ______________ Roberto if you read up on the adverse effects of the statin drugs you may get a different view on cholesterol.
