Guest guest
Dear Vaidyas, I am having problem of painful heal crack in the winter. I was told that it is due to heat in the body. I have applied Jatyadi Mulam and Amrut Mulam which gives temporary relief. I wear socks in the night while sleeping. Is there any ayurvedic remedy for this? If it is due to body heat, is there any thing to bring down the body heat? A.V.Subramanya

Guest guest
Mr. Subramanyaji Hari Om ! Mix the juice of bottle gourd (lauki) and sesame oil (til ka tel) in the ratio of 4:1 and heat till all the moisture has evaporated. Bottle and use over cracked skin. If this preparation is not available, mix equal quantities of glycerin and lemon juice and store in a glass bottle. Apply every night before going to bed in winter. Don't worry for body-heat !......... It happens to a dry skin ( mainly exposed to air) in winter season........ . With best wishes, Swami Brahmavidyananda Saraswati, A Hindu Sannyasi from Uttarakhand,India ________________ I am having problem of painful heal crack in the winter. Guest guest
You have been suggested home remedies already. If you find difficulties in carryiong out those, and rather want ready pharma medication, read further: First the dietary changes: 1. Reduce sugar, soft floor (Maida), Wheat where possible, sweets, sour and fermented/fried items. Sour items (lemon, Aamla is exception here) should also be avoided, as also Potato, Tomato (Cooked) and Brinjal. Avoid vinegar. You may take garlic and onion in diet. Cow ghee and sesame oil is recommended. all other floors OK. Add sprouted legumes and lemon/ginger to the diet. Green peas help healing especially and available plenty these days. Use fresh butter instead of paneer in that case. 2. Take 3 ayurvedic tablets of Trifla Guggul, Kanchnar Guggul and Kaishor Guggul each, making a total 9 tablets with warm water. The tablets are to be taken 3 times a day, making total 27 tablets going in the body per day. Start with 1 tablet of each guggul and go to 3 tablet dose in 9 days slowly. These are adult dosages for a medium build person with no other complaints. 3. At bed time, apply a equal mixture of Jatyadi Tailam and Aswagandha Tailam, in warm condition to the heel, and massage lightly so that the oil enters the crack. Put a polythelene bag over the foot when taking hot water bath, so that water does not enter the crack. Jatyadi ghrut works better than tailam, but only goushalas make this ghrutam. 4. It will take at least 3 weeks to reduce the pain and 3 months (maximum) to heal the crack. Some cases healed in 6 weeks too. Allow ventilation to the crack by wearing cotton socks, but expose the crack to sunlight if possible, for 15-20 minutes.
