Hi,

I would really like to know more about how diet control can help me

reduce weight or rather keep my weight under control?

After pregnancy, I haven't been able to get back to my original

weight. According to my height/age, I am still 5kgs overweight. I am

very keen on reducing those extra kilos as well as maintaining it.

I have read a lot of articles. Some suggest exercise, while some

strict diet. Due to my hectic schedule it becomes very difficult to

find time for exercising. Hence diet control seem to render some

hope.

I have stopped eating rice completely for last 2 months. Although

this hasn't shown any change in my weight. I want to know whether I

am doing the right thing or is there a way where I can achieve the

results that I want?

Also, the only exercise I manage to do during the week is 20 mins

daily walk + 1 hr swimming once a week.

Please assist me with your valuable suggestions & expertise.

Thanks

Jyoti

Weight loss can be managed by diet plan if u r willing to follow it

strictly . The basic thing about overweight or obesity is the

deposition of extra calories ( fats ) on ur body . With the cut in

the input of the food , will reduce the extra calories by burning

the deposited calories ( fats ) .

The best way is Fasting for one total day in the week is the best

option . Take water for the whole day as u need . It will do what u

want within some weeks . Also by reducing the fatty foods , junk

foods , butter , sweets , cheese , later night dinner will help u to

achieve this .

Thanks for your reply. Fasting for one day in a week sounds

achievable. But if it leads to acidity problems should this be

stopped? Or can be substituted with somethink like buttermilk etc?

Regards,

Jyoti

The weight gain after pregnancy is due to Vata vitiation. The

intervention in natural childbirth is the basic cause. Several other

reasons are dealt with in links given in

ayurveda/message/7833

And how to deal with fat which body could not shade after pregnancy is discussed

in:

ayurveda/message/5786

Excess weight is a symptom of liver *dysfunction* and not solely due

to the number of calories you consume, as explained in the message

ayurveda/message/8205

Importance of liver is also discussed in

ayurveda/message/9076

A testimonial to the weight loss by adopting a slightly difficult

diet regime is available at:

ayurveda/message/12819

However, whether you should take any of these routes depends on

whether you are still nursing the baby. Leaving the choice of measures to a

nearby vaidya is best.

Many times Fasting results in Hyperacidity in some individuals . But

it can be managed by simply consuming 250 ml of chilled milk in the

morning . The use of coconut water is also helpful . The use of 2 tsf

of Fenugreek powder in the morning & evening with water will be good

too .
