Guest guest
Hi, My daughter is 3 yrs old. We are vegeterians and I am bit concerned about the my daughters health. She is very active but thin. I would like her to be healthy (like every Mum dreams). Medical practitioners here seldom suggest giving Multivitamins to build up her immunity. I am bit reluctant to give her multivitamins at this age. Can I know any other natural or ayurvedic options to build up the immunity & strength in her? Is it okay to give her Dabur Chyawanprash every day? Any other similar suggestions are welcome. Thanks Jyoti

Is it okay to give her Dabur > Chyawanprash every day? 1} Soak 4 Dates (or 10 raisins) for 2-3 hours, Boil them in a cup of milk for 10 minutes and give after mixing a little cardamom powder. Two times a day to make a her strong and healthy. Some weight gain also will occur. 2) The mixture of 4 tsp spinach vegetable juice in honey daily once, makes children strong and healthy. 3) Naturally ripened Banana amd a cup of milk over it is a simplest receipe for strength. Whether weight is gained or not depends on constitution of the kid. In receipe 1, you can also add 2 almond seeds, 1 apricot, 2 Cashewnuts, if available. You can powder these and add to boiling milk. Alternative is to soak these overnight and take in the morning after grinding with a little water in kitchen blender. Soaking gives rise to additional B, C, E vitamins in nuts. You can give Chyvanprash, 1 tsp maximum at breakfast time, and give milk at Sr No. 1 after it. Better still, if you are in India (your post sounds you are not) give juice of two aamla fruits mixed with 1 tsp honey, first thing in the morning empty stomach. Aamla will be available for next 2-3 months. Any of the above recommendations builds immunity too. If immunity is the objective, fresh fruits and carrot/beet juice, wheat grass juice will be the choice. Most important, there remains a possibility that she is suffering from pin worms or thread worm in the intestines. They do not give any indication in symptoms except for underweight children. If present, none of the above remedies will give desired results. Stop curd, milk, shreekhand, Basundi etc milk products, sweets, bakery items, legumes if worms present. There are slow but sure anti-worm treatments in ayurveda, if that is the case. Dr Bhate

Guest guest
There is not much need for worry about raising vegetarian chldren. Do not worry too much if she is thin.Children 's weight is not only determiined by what they eat, but also genetics. If you and your husband are slim, she may be as well. Be sure that she eats protein daily - dal or nuts. Be sure that she eats a wide variety of vegetables iand fruits in every color of the rainbow and she will be fine. It is ok to give chyavanprash daily. It is also ok to give her liquid multi vimtains - if you live in western countries liquid multi is available in all health food stores. In India as well there are many tonics which would incllude multi vitamins. Mandakini Machiraju www.unitypeacewellness.com ------ My daughter is 3 yrs old. Guest guest
Is it ok to mix wheat grass juice and Amla juice and have them together? I have read on net that lime juice should not be mixed with wheatgrass juice. And is it ok to mix other leafy green vegetable juices like spinach etc, with wheatgrass jiuce? __________________________ give juice of two aamla fruits mixed with 1 tsp honey, first thing in the morning empty stomach. Guest guest
Split milk or whey is very good for young children. It has lots of nutrients and digest easily. Guest guest
Thanks again. Me & my husband both are not skinny so I am more worried :-) Yeah, she is pretty good at eating fruits. But bit fussy with vegetables. However I try my best to make the food interesting. Good to know that giving Chyavanprash is okay. Fortunately it is easily available here. I stay in Australia and we do get multivitamins for kids in both liquid as well as tablet forms. ______________ > There is not much need for worry about raising vegetarian chldren. > Do not worry too much if she is thin.Children 's weight is not only determiined by what they eat, but also genetics. Guest guest
> Is it ok to mix wheat grass juice and Amla juice and have them together? I > have read on net that lime juice should not be mixed with wheatgrass juice. > And is it ok to mix other leafy green vegetable juices like spinach etc, > with wheatgrass jiuce? One simple principle of juice therapy, which also includes eating fruits, vegetables (partially cooked in some cases) is not to mix two fruits or vegetables. Some vegetables are harmonious to each other and can be mixed, but then such pairs are few. One exception is juice of potato. It can be mixed with carrot juice or beet juice, since otherwise throat irritation can occur. It needs to be noted that all three are tubers. Higher sugar content in carrot and beet makes potato juice palatable and offsets its pungency. Wheat juice and amala juice should not be taken together, a gap of at least an hour should be allowed. Aamla juice should be mixed with honey to soften the acid contents in aamla. Honey adds vit E to Vit C of Aamla and makes a potent tonic for heart and skin. Honey is an exceptional substance. With lemon, it boosts immunity, will cause weight loss for some. But mixed with milk, it will cause weight gain for babies! Just ensure milk is not too warm. Fruits which can be mixed with milk are those which do not have acid content when ripe. Addition of little ginger powder is recommended when mixing milk and Mango juice. Many fruits have a little acid even when fully ripe, especially if they are artificially ripened. Fruit vendors have become chemical smart, they use chemical powders and closed godowns to boost the ripening. Be careful when you buy Papaya or Banana. Many dry fruits however can be advantageoulsy mixed in milk, when boiling it. These fruits will build ojas, give some weight gain too. Guest guest
Boil milk, add lemon juice or vinegar and it will " split " forming curds and whey (ala Little Miss Muffet). Strain out the curds and have the child drink the whey. You can put it in cereals, add honey or mix it with other foods. I am 5'8 " and my wife is 5'6 " . My son is 6'1 " so it seemed to work for him. GB ________________ > What is split milk & wheat grass? Guest guest
Guess we are talking about paneer here then. Thanks a lot for your explaination. __ Boil milk, add lemon juice or vinegar and it will " split " forming curds and whey (ala Little Miss Muffet). Guest guest
Sai Ram. No, paneer is what is solidified and is filtered. The whey is liquid. Paneer is fat and protein mixture if I understand correctly. Whey is with less calories and more nutrition. Swamy __________________________ Guess we are talking about paneer here then.
