Guest guest
I often think how healing things are in nature as I move through life ....... just as I wonder if living in the country and having the eyes resting on the ever moving trees and plants, clouds and surroundings generally means that there are more people in cities wearing glasses because country people's eyes are more subtly exercised, in the same way our ears have more melodious sounds to exercise their subtle alertness, frogs, water flowing, birds of many varieties and pitches, leaves rustling and the silent stillness of the shady places of the countryside or the buzzing of insects, and yes, the dew on the early morning grass - hopefully before the biting ants have woken for our unwary feet. And I wonder what perfumes have some homeopathic or subtle impact on us, currently I have jasmine, wisteria (such a therapeutic smell) the occasional rose, the earth itself freshly tilled, the grass bleeding under the mower, such fragrances - what deep impact do they have on our bodies or our psyches and memories - certainly the sense of smell can take us faster to our memories than any other sense ........... A practitioner I sometimes visit experiments with photos she has taken and watches the beneficial impact these scenes have on people's states of mind using her diagnostic technique of Vascular Autonomic Response (pulse). So imagine how the benefits of nature itself would be so much more potent than a photo - we are much more closely aligned to our surroundings than we imagine, or remember. Guest guest
I know well the effects you speak of - would be grateful for your insight concerning those of us currently living in the city and desert cities - where that natural support system is not daily nourishing our souls. When the country and nature nourish our every cell - what are the best practices for energizing those cells while living in a dry desert city or other physical places that are less than " uplifting " - aside from moving! Always appreciate your wisdom. Peace. Michelle _ I often think how healing things are in nature as I move through life .......
Guest guest
The effect of environmental pollutants, foods laced with chemicals, genetically modified foods and drugs, air-conditioned offices and artificial lights, jungles made with reinforced concrete steel cages for we human-animals, the electromagnetic fields of all high tech equipment including microwave ovens, cell-phones and to top it all, wi-fi homes are causing a big toll on health of our body-mind complex. More we go away from nature we become a robot manipulated by industrial and political forces around us. This shift to materialism is termed " Pragyaparadha " in ayurveda and is also touched upon in message#11511, 12570. " When greed, anger, avarice, pride, and vanity hold sway over people's minds, they, despising the weak and irrespective of the victim being their own kith and kin, take to invading and destroying each other. " Thus the impact of immoral and improper action on disease causation (through oxidative stress) is clearly indicated in the ayurvedic tradition. The origin of terrorism forces currently active all over the world was also forseen by ayurveda. The measures to restore health of body and mind, several techniques are described in later chapters of a book " Iron rules of health " . The book is edited by Jane herself. All the chapters of this book are freely available for members to read, the links to them are available at the end of the article: ayurveda/message/9368 Dr Bhate ___________ I know well the effects you speak of - would be grateful for your insight concerning those of us currently living in the city and desert cities - where that natural support system is not daily nourishing our souls. Guest guest
Well what would we do without our meditation and visualization - many people here who live or work in the city - cities here are not really very big - get away for the weekends to the mountains or the beach and unwind and revitalise with nature around them and the sounds of nature to heal their cityitis! As Dr Bhate says the Iron Rules of Health are there to encourage everyone to be as healthy as possible in every way - spirit, mind, heart and body - hatha and pranayama and meditation can take you to the same places, the secret places of the Most High. Everyone can have a plant in their apartment ....... Early on in my spiritual practices I was given the exercise to breathe in blue light through the brow chakra and breathe out green light through the heart chakra, the sky and the green fields are always with us in Spirit ....... more so if we cultivate them .......
