Guest guest
Dear respected vaidya ji, I would like to know your opinion regarding the problem of my 6 year old child. He goes to sleep around 9:30pm and is unable to get up in morning at 7:00am. It seems that his sleep is not over. He is constipated. He goes to toilette once in 2/3 days. Is it advisable to force him to wakeup at 6:45 to form a habit of getting up early? Will it help in regular bowel movement? What are the food items advisable to be taken to reduce his sleepiness (so that he wakes up at 6:45 in order to that to go to school by 8:00am)? What can we do to make his bowel habit regular (by proper choice of food/yoga/exercise etc)? Regards Vibhuti
Guest guest
I am not a vaidya, but I am a mom - my children would not be up and ready to go yet either - as children sometimes simply need more sleep - especially when processing the stresses and demands of school during that time. I would highly recommend an earlier bedtime. When the sun is setting - the setting process in the home should be occurring. What does your intuition say about the bowel movements - do you feel like he has a proper diet? Enough water, fiber, fruits, veggies? Guest guest
yes i agree. a banana before bed or honey mixed with water is good for constipation. over all the diet needs to be checked. __________________ What does your intuition say about the bowel movements - do you feel like he has a proper diet? Guest guest
Due to many reasons the children have constipation . Improper food habbits or Worms is the main reason . The digestion gets upset & it takes much more time to digest the food than the normal required time . Thats y , the time for sleep is more than normal . The constipation should be treated first , by improving the digestion . If he eats Buiscuits or more sweet food items , then decrease these sticky foods . Early dinner is necessary . proper amount of water intake is necessary . Upto 1500 ml of water , should be drunk by him in the whole day . The Bakery food , the junk food , dry food items sweets , chocolates should be avoided . 200 ml of cow milk with 2 tsf cow ghee added to it , should be given before going to bed . Vegetable intake is necessary . The lentils like Moong Dal will be helpful . If these things dont change the present sign of sleep , then it is advisable to visit nearest Ayurveda doctor in ur vicinity . Dr . Gandhi S. C. Guest guest
Having activity in the evening is ok depending on the time. If it is too close to bed time this could cause nightmares, an over excited mind. The evening as bed time approaches should be a calming down period. As for diet please tell us what time he wakes up on his own, what does he eat for breakfast, lunch dinner, any snacks? How tall is he? How much does he weight? From 0-16 years old it is Kapha stage so naturally will require more sleep since this is the growing stage. we need more info to make a better assessment. Thanks Peace, Cosmic __________________________ its a age to jump and play around . make him play in the evening let him have a good physical exercise and he will definitly get a sound sleep. Guest guest
I agree with the other mothers, 6 year olds should be in bed by 8pm. Definitely check for worms since he is going to school. It is a social disease among youngsters, passed from hand to hand, and causes big problems if not treated. The pills for the worms probably need to be picked up from the D.O. Does anyone use Milk of Magnesia anymore? Or cod liver oil? Nanczee
Guest guest
Funny you should mention Milk of Magnesia - I sent to a friend in UK to send me some - well I sent to three friends actually as this is no longer available in Australia - and we did a thorough search - eventually a bottle arrived which I sent to a friend in South Australia - it is good stuff and what we have here in its place is full of Aluminium - Mylanta. We can still get Cod Liver Oil. Best Jane .................................................................................\ ... Does anyone use Milk of Magnesia anymore? Or cod liver oil?
