RE: DABUR CHYAWANPRASH-Health Benefits?

As per Dr.Muzumdar's post in the archives, commercially available Chawanprash is

nothing but a poly-herbal jam. It seems the relative amount of Chawanprash

produced in India is more than the quantity of Amlaki available. Watch out for

the excess sugar and preservatives used in such products. They add sugar and

other subsitutes just to make the product taste better. Chawanprash is great if

you can get the one thats prepared as per the Shastras. Otherwise it may not

help you much. I don't think there should be any interaction between Chawanprash

and your vitamin pill. Perhaps others can throw more light on this.

What do you guys think about the health benefits of daily consumption of

chyawanprash

Is it OK to consume it along with other vitamins or multiviatmins like one-a-day

Pradeep:

Before consuming have a look at the heavy metals. That would be a

real eye opener. Ask for the Certificate of Analysis on the finished

product, manufacturer will never give because they already know the

amount of heavy metals.

hii, i w'd like to share the same opinion on chyawanprash. as correctly said,

the quality of chywanprash and the method adopted for it's manufacturing matters

the most!

in ayurveda , Chyawanprash is mentioned as an " Vatatapik Rasayan " which in

simple language w'd mean that it can be consumed on a daily basis.

the correct action of chyawanprash is to improve the agnis (Jatharagni and

Dhatvagnis especially Mansa dhatvagni)

i have been manufacturing chyawanprash as exactly mentioned in the granthas

for the needs of my patients and for other ayurvedic vaidyas of the near

vicinity. a few of my patients and their relatives also carry it to countries

like dubai, abudhabi, Australia, UK etc.

feel free to contact for more details

Namaste Dr. Vijay:

How do we define chemical Free ? There is no such thing as " Chemical

Free " . If Chayanprash is classified as a rasaayana then how can one

say that it is " Chemical Free " ?

During the process of extraction (water) hydrolysis and some

oxidation occurs. If you analyze the extracts and compare it to

their original juice then one can determine these quantitatively.

IMO - The correct wording should be " NO ADDED CHEMICALS " .

Have we studied the chronic consumption of tannins an it's effect on

Iron depletion? One must treat " Medicines as Medicines " .

Most importantly, have Chavanprash analyzed using ICP-MS. Once you

see the results for Heavy Metals (lead and Arsenic) then you many

never want to eat it? Most of lead content comes from the Water used

for extraction. The origin of lead is directly associated with old

plumbing. Just using purified water 80% of lead content can be

reduced.

Most of the formulas of Chyawan Prash manufactured today are

adulterations without all the authentic ingredients or replacement

ingredients - and without any of the same amazing rejuvenation power

as the original, factors such as fresh and proper quality amla and

correct herbs picked at the right time according to recommended

astrological period (Kartik) and authentic manufacturing, which is not

possible on a large scale. The preservation of the magnetic signatures

in the herbs are altered if processed in the wrong metal containers

etc etc. The oldest surviving written formula of Chyawanprash is given

in the Charaka Samhita. The later formula found is in the Astangha

Hridaya Samhita. The latter is mostly manufactured by some of the

traditional south indian pharmacies. The best CP's I have tried so far

have been the CS version made by small family run pharmacies that

respect all or most of the rules and regulation of making it.

I am using Dabur for last three years and very happy with the

improvement in my resistance power. Now a days I recommend Dabur

Chawanprash to everybody, though I must say that this is the only

Chyawanprash I have ever tried so I am not saying that others are not

good. I am only saying that I have tested Dabur Chyawanprash and

found very effective.

Thanks & Regards,
