Guest guest
Thank you Shirish. The " other " heart disease theory mentioned in your linked article refers to homocysteine - which is a marker of inflammation in the body, and is now said by researchers to be a better risk marker for cardiovascular disease than LDL. This is information that seems unknown to GPs, but is well known to any graduate naturopath. So who is the quack? The inflammation theory of CVD correlates better to a primary Pittaja condition, with Kapha as a secondary effect. Hence Arjuna, a common ayurvedic heart support herb, is both Pitta and Kapha reducing, and other Hrdaya herbs are also Pittahara. By the way, high doses of Omega-3 fish oils have been found to be better anti-depressants than prescription drugs. It wouldn't surprise me if ghee, being a medhya (brain-enhancing) herb, was found to have similar effectiveness.
