Guest guest
so you are saying that the combination of B6 with 5htp in the mainstream products available don't work because of these scientific facts? and also you are stating that one should take b6 and then after an hour should take 5htp because of the pharmokinetic nature of b6? i am not trying to commit to this as a standard dosage requirements but if one was to infer a proper understanding of interaction of b6 and 5htp this would be a good basis correct? __________ Raja Gursahani (: 559.474.8576 ,: rajagursahani
Guest guest
Raja Gursahani-Ji Namaste: I think you got the picture. 1. If Vitamin B-6 is present in the guts then it pre-maturely converts 5-HTP into serotonin, which is eliminated by the kidneys. You can easily check this using an HPLC equipped with an Electro Chemical Detector (ECD). 2. One hour is not completely accurate, but can be regarded as an approximate guideline. 3. I have not discussed dosage because individual requirements will vary. For Example: $1 for a beggar (a starving individual) is not same as $10 for a educate, gainfully employed, productive citizen of the society.) 10 mg to 1200 mg of dosage has been reported in the literature. In one of the studies 800 mg mg per day resulted in patient loosing significant amount of weight and some companies are using that paper to substantiate weight loss. 4. Chronic consumption of 5-HTP has been perceived that leads to Vitamin B-6 Deficiency. I recall this was observed in a patient who was suffering from Carpel Tunnel Syndrome and consuming large amounts of 5-HTP. About 12 years ago I had a whole cabinet full of papers on this subject that I cleaned couple of years ago. Guest guest
Namaste Raja Gursahani-Ji: Unfortunately, I never completed the pharmackkinetic studies as a the funds for research depleted. More targeted research needs to be completed before we will really find the answer peertaing to the exact amount of B-6, 5-HTP and the time lag for optimum uptake.
