Guest guest
I have a yoga student who is clearly Vata who is interested in practicing some of Dr. Vasant Lad's suggestions for calming Vata dosha. She'd like to try a sesame oil enema, but has concerns regarding weight gain, as she used to be very overweight and has food issues. Here's her question she emailed me: " Will you please ask within your community an Ayurvedic Practicioner that you trust if using a sesame oil enema protocol, as recommended by Vasant Lad's book, would or could deposit in the body as fat? I may actually do 5-15 sesame oil enemas, if they are all needed, as he recommends for my condition. Each enema contains 1 cup of sesame oil and I know sesame oil is absorbed into the body. This might mean I might be using 15 cups in which case I truly must know what possible effect this might have on my body. Is the sesame oil absorbed into the body as fat tissue? I will not use this method for my condition if that is how the body absorbs sesame oil enemas. I want to use this method, however, I need to get the facts straight, first. " I look forward to the responses! Thank you. Guest guest
Connie Habash, Hari Om ! Your yoga student who is interested in practicing some of Dr. Vasant Lad's suggestions for calming Vata dosha shouldn't try a sesame oil enema for a long time because of her concerns regarding weight-gain, as she used to be very overweight. Yes, a small percentage of the sesame oil is absorbed into the body as fat-tissue or would deposit in the body as fat though it's not harmful. Then why should invite the RISK ? For calming 'VATA' dosha for her, I will recommend ( with your kind permission, please ......)the combination given hereunder: 01. Powdered Fenugreek seeds (methi daana) - 100 gm. 02. Powdered Dry-ginger (saunth) - 100 gm. 03. Powdered Turmeric (haldi) - 100 gm. 04. Powdered Withania somnifera (Ashwagandha) - 50 gm. ------- Mix all the FOUR and keep it in a glass jar. Take a teaspoonful mixture with warm-water after two main-meals ( i.e. after breakfast & dinner) daily, regularly for a few months. With best wishes, Swami Brahmavidyananda Saraswati A Hindu Sannyasi/Monk from India ____________________-- I have a yoga student who is clearly Vata who is interested in practicing some of Dr. Vasant Lad's suggestions for calming Vata dosha.
