Guest guest
Dear Riyaz, We have lost the links of 'Atyayik Chikitsa' ie emergency medicines from Ayurveda and have concentrated more on chronic disorders. Do you think that modern medicine / allopathy would have flourished, if Ayurveda had the answers for such acute/emergency management? Panchkarma procedures like Snehan, Swedan and Vaman can help to a great extent, in Sadyo-kriya mode; but in status condition you have to treat with intra-venous injections and oxygen only. Conflicting views have emerged in reply to your querry. One reason is the influence of allopathy on ayurveda taught in academic institutions. Second reason is the short time available to study ayurveda there. Clear curiculum demands basing the subject matter to be taught in terms of few texts. Student learns theory much more, questions in the exams must be such that everyone following those texts should be able to answer. Internship in some allopathic hospitals, since the number of ayurvedic hospitals too few! And without realizing, student is all the time seeking medicine/treatment names against the disease conditions. And easy solutions (such as oxygen supplimentation) provided by modern science tempts the student to learn the easy way, even if it costs much more to the patient. Patients are also to be blamed, since they want fast solutions, a delusion created by modern science. By the way, the emergencies of this type (even MI) are handled in traditional ayurvedic as well as siddha science, but practicing vaidyas have reservations to disclose the secrets of medicines or treatments. But the reservations melt for a serious student. While some bhasma medicines have alreday been suggested by Swami Saraswati, similar approach is also described at: http://health.ayurveda/message/3486 clue to relieving breathing difficulties does exist in Sushrut Samhita, learn the marma points. Within 2-3 minutes patient finds relief. Mahatama Gandhi taught a mudra to one of his ashram members, when he was suffering from acute asthma attack. This mudra is already discussed in archives. Other than Mudras, there are some very inexpensive medicines too, but they may not work for all constitutions. Home remedies and inexpensive drugless approaches do not form academic course. When patient is given the bhasma medicines, they cause dilation of blood vessels and bronchie. Dr. Bhate
Guest guest
hello sbsaraswati, is this medicine containing swasari ras et.al. useful in acute cases? i have my own reservations after more than 18 years of Ayurvedic practice. according to my knowledge, use of mriga shringa (horns of deer) is banned from possession as well as in medicinal preparations (bhasma),according to central government and forest and wild life ministry in India. are you aware of this fact? if such bhasma is not available in market, what sort of shruga bhasma are you advising? can you please elaborate? Guest guest
Dear Shirish, I fear if your opinions can be put to actual use in a patitent with acute/emergency condition of Asthma. They may all be useful in chronic or non-aggravated conditions. And you may rely on my word that the vaisyas themselves and their kith and kin get admitted in hospitals when affected in aggravated condition, how much they may howl from the roof-tops. I would definitely like to high-lighten the glory of ayurveda, but I would also like to keep all safe from falling prey to emotionalism and understand the current limitations of Ayurveda-social as well as medico-legal. Swarna Basant-malti Ras 3 gm. Dr.D.B.Muzumdar Hari Om ! Swasari Ras et.al. is useful in acute-cases, too. It's true, the use of mriga shringa (horns of deer) is banned from possession. BUT, it is availabe appr. @ Rs. 5=00 per gm. in Uttarakhand, India ( Mfr. M/s Divya Pharmacy, Kripalu Bag Ashram, Kankhal, Hardwar, Uttarakhand, India 249408......contact e-mail: divyayoga). It may be under legal licence only ! Dr. Mazumdar ! I am a wandering monk/Sannyasi, I don't have knowledge on its availability in the Market & don't like to survey for the same. I want to convey my feelings & knowledge only to the group-members and even if a single member gets benefits, I salute 'Ayurveda'! Nothing else...........
