Hello everyone,

My husband is 6oyrs old and has been playing tennis

for the past 30yrs. Recently he has developed traumatic arthritis of

the right knee and has to give up tennis. He is fine if he does not

play, still he developes pain if he walks long distance ( one or two

miles ). He wants to pursue allopathic treatment but I have been

persuading him to seek ayurvedic treatment. I don't know where to

start. Can somebody guide me if there is any treatment for traumatic

arthritis in ayurveda, if there is any possiblity if the knee could be

restored to its original state? Given his age we both agree he may not

be able to play as vigorously as in the past but he would like to do

some less strenuous exercises like brisk walking or jogging without

any pain.

I would appreciate the group members' guidance.

Savithri Kumar

P.S: Also I would like to know if there is any specific yoga postures

that could be helpful.

Homeopathic Arnica 30C daily for a couple of weeks is so helpful in

conditions like this as an adjunct to the Ayurvedic treatment - and I find

Paschimatanasana is helpful for my own knee pain

Best,

it is better to consult a near by senior ayur practitioner.

what a patient can do best is better follow his doctor.

patients learning about disease is allright , but if they start

self style treatements will not much help.

Inverted postures like shoulderstand and plough are good. A very good

posture is sitting with legs widespread. Hold both toes (or however

far he can reach) and pull down to the center. Do long deep breathing.

Hi....these are not Ayurvedic remedies, but alternative things you

can do that have worked for many others are:

1. Castor Oil heat packs to knee. Three days on/three days off until

it gets better.

2. Magnet brace to knee.

3. Hand and foot reflexology. One can do this on oneself.

4. Acupuncture/needle and moxa treatments.

5. An Aurvedic or Chinese doctor should be able to prescribe herbs

that can help.

Good luck,

Juliana

It is not our intention to self treat. We know a lot about

allopathy, but

I am sorry and a little ashamed to say that ayurveda is still a new

system of medicine for us (though it is native to our motherland) and

we have a lot to learn. Opinions and discussions of the experts in

this forum gives us an idea of what to expect when we pursue ayurvedic

treatment. That is the purpose of my enquiry. Sorry, if I had given

the wrong impression. If we chose to do ayurvedic treatment we will

definitely do under the care of an expert ayurvedic physician.

Hari Om,

Rightly said, " If we chose to do ayurvedic treatment we will

definitely do under the care of an expert ayurvedic physician-

Savithri Kumar. "

Till you get a Doctor of your CHOICE, A few medicines, if you

accept by Hearts, are recommended on the basis of " Charak Samhita " .

Kindly note down the medicines for `Joint pain, Gout, Knee Joint

Pain' etc. ------

02. Maha Vat vidhwansak Ras 10 gm.

03. Praval Pisti 10 gm.

04. Vrihat Vat Chintamani Ras 3 gm.

…………. Mix all the FOUR medicines and divide into 60 parts, keep in

paper-envelopes, Take one part each with one tea-spoon of HONEY or

luke-warm water daily in the morning & evening (Empty Stomach)……………

or atleast one hour before the meals. This is the quantity for ONE

month, take it for atleast four to five months.

B. After Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner :

01. Yogaraj Guggulu

02. Chandraprabha Vati

03. Punarnavaadi Mandoor

…………. Take ONE tablet each of these three medicines with luke-warm

months for permanent CURE, please !
