Guest guest
Hello Everyone: As per my original email, I owe the group an update on my treatment. So, here it goes. First of all, I would like to clarify a few doubts that were raised about my 2-month treatment in India through postings and private emails to me. My stay in India was " not' in-patient. Actually, I stayed in an apartment of my choice with my family that included my parents and when they left, my in-laws. In fact, almost all members of my family also went through some procedures of Panchakarma, especially the liver detox through a combination of diet, herbs, and basti. We all stayed together and shared our experiences. We met the Vaidya every once in 3-4 days, sometimes more frequently. I was allowed to go out and shop around -- buy groceries, visit malls, visit temples, eat out, etc. India has changed quite a bit in last 10-15 years. Now, there are ample places to eat, visit, and shop -- So, you can turn your trip into an interesting and enjoyable experience as well -- which helped with the suffering that I underwent through the reactions due to the elimination of the toxins. Another thing I wanted to add is that the Vaidya also added Jal-Neti to my treatment plan right when I landed there. It's a procedure to clean your nostrils and sinuses while supplying minerals to the brain. What you use is called a Neti pot filled with lukewarm salt water (use sea salt, saindhava salt, etc. -- not the regular one) and let that the water run from one nostril to the other. It's a really easy and enjoyable experience once you do it for the first time -- highly recommended for those who have sinus problems.. There was one issue with the Indian style toilet, which I am not used to. But since I came back from there and having read about the colon problems (cancer, etc.) due to the use of the western style toilets, I decided to get a step that attaches to the western style toilet and simulates the squat position that you are supposed to assume during evacuation. When you use it, you really feel emptied afterwards :-) Or, else lumps of stool remain in your colon and they rot to create more trouble down the road. My last posting was about two months ago. Since then, I have continued on my treatment and even have added a few more things to my daily intake -- mostly once again based on the Vaidya's advice. Ever since I got back, I continued to have the mucus problem and it got worse every day. So, I performed a saliva test to detect candida, which came out positive. Since then, I have been trying to treat it. Trust me, if you go about treating your candida the proper way, it is one of the most time taking and difficult thing to do. Time taking because the candida is not destroyed overnight -- the allopathic pills that claim to do so do not treat the problem at all as the candida comes back after a few weeks -- it's also important to establish a good intestinal flora by starving candida with diet control, killing them using means that do not kill the beneficial bacteria, and injecting beneficial bacteria through probiotics. You can find numerous articles on candida treatment in this group's archives. Anyway, the additions to my treatment plan were intake of crushed garlic in the mornings and probiotics with every meal and before bed. I changed my diet considerably as well -- stopped wheat and wheat products completely, stopped other gluten containing grains as well including barley, rye, semolina, and oats, started taking grains like millet, quinoa, amaranth, and buckwheat, mostly no sugar or sugar containing products/recipes, no milk unless it's raw and boiled once, lots of veggies, less sugary fruits, etc. The problems are still not completely gone, but have gotten much much better. For example -- my mucus problem has lessened on average down to almost 10%, through moderation of garlic intake, I am able to keep the " die off " reaction to the minimum, the days when I feel terrific have increased on average (almost 7 out 10-11 days are just perfect), etc. Another thing that I recently started is heavy metal detox using a tincture of cilantro and chlorella. Jon Barron's website sells that formula and mentions that the tincture removes over 90% of heavy metals from your body in about 40 days. I am half way through. During the first two weeks, I did witness some toxins getting eliminated as my stools were smelly and greenish in color. You also start urinately much more frequenly as soon as you start taking the tincture which is another sign that the heavy metals are getting eliminated. I started on heavy metal detox only because I still have residues of delusional thoughts -- in fact a lot of them. During a die-off reaction, these thoughts become quite intensified and affect my daily life considerably -- many times I have had to take off from work! My decision to start the detox was based on the fact that about 14 years ago, I had silver amalgams put in as tooth fillings and I clearly recall that my mental symptoms started soon afterwards. The first thing I did after recalling that and realizing that the mercury absorption from the amalgams could be a potential cause behind my mental illness is that I got the amalgam replaced with a composite filling -- you can find naturopathic dentists in your town who can do this for you. Next, I got mercury test done on my hair and urine samples, though nothing came out that! After reading some literature, I learnt that within 6 months - 1 year most of the mercury is completely absorbed by the gut and the brain and remains there forever unless you detox them out. To be honest, I have not read any articles that prove that the heavy metal detox actually takes the mercury out of the areas where the mercury has become part of the organ completely or is embedded deep inside. So, I am trying this out hoping that it would take out as much mercury (and lead also) as possible and the rest for the brain will be taken care of by the " tantrik pranayama " (the breathing excercise) that I do every day. How do I feel? Well, I had a record stint of 10 consecutive days without ANY symptoms just 2 weeks ago, then 4 bad days, and then once again about 7 days with no symptoms, and then again 3-4 bad days, etc. When I say no symptoms, I actually feel *great* on those days! On those days, I find my brain working faster with almost no delusional thoughts at all! I sometimes tell my wife that I now work faster than the computer as nowadays I wait more for the computer to respond to my commands than before! My guess is that it must be a cumulative effect of taking the nervine herbs -- brahmi, ashwagandha, etc. Also, I have now enrolled for a 5-year course in Ayurveda mostly covering Charak Samhita in detail. So, in due course of time, I may start my clinic somewhere -- well, that's the idea anyway. If any of you have a question about my treatment so far, please feel free to contact me by email or through a posting on the group.
