Guest guest
Dr. Bhate, My son has asked me about his problem with excessivly sweating palms. His hands sweat easily, and excessivly when he practices tabla. He has been playing for several years and teaches several students beginning skills (very well I must proudly add) but when he takes time to do longer practices for himself, he has to use so much powder that he feels he is damaging the good drums he recently purchased. It is enough of a problem he has become very discouraged. He often suffers some depression, having some jyotish aspects that also challenge apparently and has had chronically congested sinuses on and off thru his life which Dr. Doulliard once said had to do with excess udana chasing pitta toxins upward, with responding protective mucuous to the drying effect. Anyway, between not enough pranayam taught there at the Maharishi School, and reluctance to do it when so often difficult, he is not getting enough prana in my opinion, but I don't know how that might relate to the sweating issue. Responds best to one of the MAPI herb formulas for emotions. meditates regularly and does a little yoga several times a week, walks and bikes often, works out at the gym occasionally. My son is almost 21 years of age and in fairly good health, considering he has some unsatisfied need for variety in his life having grown up mostly in a small town/meditating community and of the age for more dynamic life. He takes his variety staying up late, video games, ice cream or such instead of drinking and partying. He is working on not getting caught in self blame for breaking the ayurvedic rules of good health he knows are involved. He has resisted the whole self-referral dynamic because of his sensitivity to being " wrong " . - one of the disadvantages a spiritual community too easily can fall into in spite of all best intentions to avoid it. He is vegetarian, well exposed to self referral on ayurvedic tridosha and pulse in school, has kapha pitta constitution with more vata than makes sense to him. We discussed it may be especially from the video gaming and gemini ascendant challenges of Sun, Mercury and Moon together there. He lives in dormatory at college, where they serve mostly organic and all vegetarian food, including dhal every day. His weight is good. Anyway, these are minor compared to most people's problems, but he needs support outside of Mom's limited knowledge. I suspect there are links to be found, even with the sweating problem. Right now aside from the request for answers to sweating palms, he is very resistant to the very long list of " to dos " that he knows all too well in his life. He is open to some herbal support or possible specific cleansing, or specific pranayama. Thank you for your thoughts in sorting these things - Ysha
Guest guest
Hi Ysha This question has been discussed earlier and some opinions are available in post http://health.ayurveda/message/9212 and the connected posts, the links to which are availble at the bottom of above post. Above post also gives a link to a chapter of a century old book, which is most appropriate for the situation. A general rule of sweating is that the part which works more (uses more blood) or has more fat cells, sweats also more, as body eliminates toxins through sweat. Summer is a natural " swedan " panchkarma opportunity provided to us. But based on experience with few patients who used to sweat profusely, the food recommendations given in post# 9212 helped to a large extent; avoiding non vegetarian food and reducing fats and proteins eliminated most of the odor from the armpits and groin. Trouble with sweating is increased if there is systemic yeast infection, as itching starts due to sweating in such cases. So adopting a diet with highly reduced soft carbs, sugar, wheat, sweats, etc will help in such cases. Sometimes depression gives a a hint that such a thing may be present. A simple test will reveal the truth, as described in http://www.health-science-spirit.com/free-candida.htm Gemini ascendent with Sun(Karaka for Ascendent), Mercury(Lord of Ascendent sign) and Mars (Bioenergy engine) in a percussion sign Gemini makes him a source of eternal mental energy, and then the ebb part is perceived as depression. Amongst twelve signs, Gemini is maximum moody sign. Highly active mind and body will cause more sewat. The second house being cancer, the lord is moon. If moon is strong (in good phase) and beneficially aspected, profuse sweating is normal for such people. Even strong moon in second house causes sweating in hands. After all mercury is the child of moon, the moodiness derived from moon and eternal quest for info/change derived from Tara his mother. Such people are easily recognised by dense, black and shining hair on head, long finger, long hands and long legs too. In this case moon sign is most important, as question is related to moon(water) element. Look at the food intake, if there is anything to which he is allergic. If there is no bad odor in the sweat, sweating after working the organ is a healthy sign. If the post would have been adressed to the group rather than this author, Vadidya Upadhye would have also expressed some analysis. Author requests him to come forward. _______________________ My son has asked me about his problem with excessivly sweating palms. His hands sweat easily, and excessivly when he practices tabla. Guest guest
Hi Dr. Bhate - The concerns around candida may be real, and the other discussion makes much sense also. He enjoys sweets and I've concerns the carb intake is out of balance in excess on campus dining. I'll study the other links (one is not working) and share with him. Re the astrological configuration, moon is actually also in ascendant, mars in cancer (lorded by moon, which though strong has some challenges sitting with those planets in gemini). He does in general sweat rather profusely, and has considerable thirst compared to others. He is tall, long limbed with long strong and graceful fingers, but hair is thick and red not black. Yes, of course we will be very appreciative to hear from other members of the forum here. I addressed personally out of affection for you and sent before realizing it sounded like I didn't want to hear from anyone else. If Vadidya Upadhye or any others have insights this is most welcome too. Thank you. Ysha > _______________________ > My son has asked me about his problem with excessivly sweating palms.
