I have some friends with various problems that mangosteen claims it can repair or heal - but it is VERY expensive. Could anyone suggest where I start to look for similar better products? He decided he could not afford to go to the doctor - so he treated himself with a topical from a company called "Twofeathers". The thing errupted like a volcano about the size of a 50 cent piece. It went away - Long story short. - Another one appeared on his upper arm - same thing - Now a third one has appeard on his lower arm. These things look like the worst form of a boil - a brown recluse bite- and a blob of black oil oosing out - all in one ! I have visited Mitch a few times threw this period of about 4 months and continued to suggest he see a doctor. He rents a room - he is a window washer - and just a nice fellow divorced having some real bad luck. Finally he has gotten the third one under control - healed. I wonder if he should start a regimen to prevent having more - as he simply won't go to a doctor. In the face of it all - I have no health problems but - just witnessing this horrible mess was one of the reasons I looked up this group. Hence - making me interested in some of the wonderful knowledge here for myself ,my fiance' (David) and my grown children and grandchildren. I am 51 - tired - need energy - "was" a comfortable size 10 - 12 - THIS year became post menopausel and @) 20 pounds JUMPED on me like a wild APE that won't leave! So ANYTHING I read that offers energy ( that is legal) LOL I magnet to it ! Guest guest Posted September 19, 2006 Report Share Posted September 19, 2006 I haven't tried the mangosteen, but I've been drinking Himalayan Goji Juice for 6 weeks now and am doing much better with my fibromyalgia than before. I still have a ways to go and some other issues, but I drink this daily and have done lots of reading and researching about it. I believe it to be the best of all those juices out there. Guest guest Posted April 19, 2008 Report Share Posted April 19, 2008 The mangosteen fruit is very similar to the Lychee in fruit texture, white translucent slightly fragrant flesh - the difference being that the fruit is two to three times larger than the Lychee and the shell is hard like wood and about 4mm thick - quite difficult to cut. I can buy them seasonally at all major supermarkets here and in the Chinese grocer most of the year. In the supermarkets they are about $1.50 each and in the Chinese grocer they are about $8 a kg Other than current MLM hype - where you pay anything up to $75 per 750ml bottle of the juice mixed with other fruits - I haven't read anywhere of the uses - doubtless google would tell you a few.
