Guest guest
With Chaitra month (Lunar Calendar) already set in, summer is just round the corner. Amongst other ailments, children fevers is something which makes moms worried. Rising pitta vitiation also makes boils, rashes, eruptions, migraines also common. That is why ayurveda prescribes taking neem in this season, as a blood purifier. Generally, when the fever subsides, it leaves weakness as the residue. The heat caused by suppressive medicines is one reason. This heat causes liver underfunction, weight loss, fatigue, weakness. Patient is confused what to do to gain strength quickly. And second opinion differs from first; even ayurvedic consultation gives rise to such a situation. Sudden changes in climate, more temperatutre, humidity, rains show effects on our health, especially children are more suceptible. This well known knowledge of ayurveda is perhaps being re-discovered by World Health Organization: http://www.wpro.who.int/media_centre/press_releases/pr20080704.htm or is it throwing the blame for failure of modern medicine onto nature? Everyone wants to regain health as quickly as possible, the temptation lands a patient into allopathic symptom-suppressive treatments. Though relief is fast, the side effects are many, and liver residues cause long term effects, allergies is one such. One symptoms which is not recognized as allergy by most, is the chronic low grade fever, where patient feels feverish, but thermometer does not register the temperature outside normal range. Those who are allergic to wheat gluten or grains often show this type of reaction. This often is the result of mal-absorption by intestines, immune system trying to attack incompletely digested food particles leaked into blood through gut permeability. The patient feels relief from acute disease but synthetic medicines create chronic disease which they are unable to tackle. Giving a number of medicines to children, teenagers under puberty caused changes, weak adults and senior citizens produces negative effects. Health and strength is compromised. Weakness keeps increasing, Body tries to eliminate toxins through loose motions many a day, and that causes further weakness. Diseases like jaundice , malaria, typhoid cause relapse and then patient rushes to a vaidya. Constipation is the result of toxin build up in liver. What is needed is a simple discipline. Stop eating outside food, going to bed late. Drink water boiled out at least 50%, so that good electrolyte balance is achieved and body can detoxify itself. Avoiding oily and fried food is also a good tip. What food suits you best can be found from ayurveda/message/3055 ayurveda/message/4511 Community lunches and celebrations is another opportunity to get poisoned in summer. In such lunches, the food is prepared hours in advance and by the time it is served, its bio energy is already low. Green salad for instance. If facing weakness as a result of an antibiotics course or long illness, following suggestions are offered. 1. In order to correct the constipation, soft laxative becomes necessary. Strong laxatives will tire the colon, and it will become spastic. Take avipattikar churna or haritaki churna, isabgol according to the constitution. Author gave the receipe for avipattikar churna, nasotar herb etc in a recent post. According to individual's constitution, Vaidyas will add further items such as Guduchi satva, praval pishti, muktashukti bhasma. 2. Aarogyavardhini Ras was discussed previously in archives. Taking 2- 3 tablets twice a day will help digestion, regaining liver tone so that more bile is produced and digestion improves. If facing the weakness as a result of allopathic medicines, this formulation is often recommended to remove residues left inside liver by them. It boosts immune system, reduces stomach pains, is also a pitta pacifier formulation. It restores Dhatu building process in body, which helps increasing Haemoglobin, so that weakness is reduced. This formulation is especially helpful after suffering from Jaundice. Everyone can take this formulation. In the beginning, it will remove old toxins (ama) from the intestines. This causes sticky motions having dark coffee color or brownish color. Taking Punarnava Mandur along with Aarogyavatrdhini helps build iron in the blood and it is especially recommended if suffering from arthritis and swellings. Punarnava Mandur is a Bhasma preparation available both in powder and tablet form It helps in dealing with anemia, liver diseases, spleen diseases, swellings, stomach gas/gulma, stomach pains, piles. Punarnava mandur along with aarogyavardhini relives constipation, helps build dhatus, causes weight gain, and adds to the glow on the face. Aarogyavardhini and Punarnava mandur both have bhasmas, and see that you get these from reliable source, so that manufacturing oriented toxicity does not become an issue to be solved. While science mindset can have doubt about toxicity of bhasmas, well prepared bhasmas can free us from the toxicity of synthetic drugs. It is only bhasmas where dosages are in few mg, comparable to those of allopathic drugs. Well prepared and prescribed bhasma will never cause any problems, and patient can test the bhasma using the rules given in above links, so that neither time not money gets wasted. Ask only a small quantity first for allergy testing. Author has taught these methods to all his sensitive patients, so that they keep a regular check on food intake. While allopathy tries to enjoy superiority when emergency situations encountered, it is bhasmas which help patient to pass over these situations without any residual toxicity. Being a descending science, one cant give literature sitings for such statements, it is only collective experience of both vaidyas and patients, which builds trustful data base. _________ > would it be alright to put the honey/ginger/pepper mixture > into oatmeal or to have gluten-free bread made of oats instead of > wheat? > > Isn't ghee made from butter?
