Guest guest
Hare Krishna and Hello to Everyone, Recently in the news (America) it has been stated by medical " experts " that it's untrue cold milk will product mucous. Now I myself do not believe these so called experts for one minute. In part because my own experience with self, children, husband, drinking milk when coming down with a cold etc, then the mucous would increase right before my eyes. And in part cuz I am a strong believer in Ayurveda which teaches cold milk should not be taken when ill (or at all really) as it will increase mucous (probably other problems as well). So my questions is: Does anyone out there who knows Ayurveda and allopathic medicine, can you provide me with some medical evidence that they are wrong about cold milk 'not' producing mucous? Namaste, Priitaa
Guest guest
Dear Priita Milk is termed as Swastha hitakara Dravya in Ayurveda. That means though it has characteristic similarity of mucus it will not increase mucous in the person who is not suffering from disease. Hence the person who is suffering from disease esp. due to Kafa dosha the milk should be restricted. The diagestion of milk has to be considered for it's ability to produce mucus. I have treated a child just by restricting milk intake. The said child was suffering from recurrent cough and expectoration. X ray chest was done many times showing patches ? Pneumonic and received Allopathic treatment for the same. The said child used to drink milk about 750ml per day which was very difficult to get digested properly at his age. This etiology was causing production of excessive Kafa in lungs. [ I think lungs are the natural way for the body to expel excessive mucous ] I have restricted his milk intake in toto and with out any medicine child was cured. According to my experience Pitta prakruti person digest milk more easily. Whenever milk is not digested properly it acts as a poison [ causing many diseases] but when it gets properly digested it acts as Amruta[elixir]. I request you to see my web site and see case study no. 1 in which I have given explanation of the relation between milk and constipation.
