I did not read the post you referred to. The theory in TCM is that

breaking one of the levels of internal tension by letting blood can

create a relaxation response of the vascular system. As far as the

question about CVA - a major concept in traditional understandings from

several systems is that in stroke the internal energy must be brought

quickly down out of the head, so as to relive pressure in the head.

This of course must be done without creating a reactive response, as

this would release more adrenaline creating further contractions in the

vascular system. Letting blood in small amounts relives vascular tension

without creating reactive states, since it is harmless it could at least

be tried. The problem is, that often it is too late because the crisis

has already created a strong reactive state, which would not be,

affected that much by this technique. In hypertension the vascular

tension is a major player so this technique will work in a percentage of

the patients, in stroke the body is dealing with a major crisis and may

find great difficulty relaxing, adrenaline just keeps being released,

this is a major complication in stroke. I would certainly give it a try

in an emergency, especially if the patient is unconscious and before

emergency aid arrives; if the patient is conscious and frightened or

agitated, this type of approach is probably not very useful,

unfortunately too little to late.

> The reference to pricking the finger to reduce B/P is of interest

since when the question was ask re the veracity of treating CVA by pricking &

drawing blood from each finger - no one replied with comments - if you saw this

post would you comment on the effectiveness of this treatment for CVA?
