Yoga Alliance looking for new CEO

Chief Executive Officer – Yoga Alliance

Yoga Alliance is the premier yoga standards setting body in the United States,

establishing criteria for levels of teacher proficiency, specialized teacher

training, and teacher training programs across yoga traditions. Yoga Alliance

maintains an international registry of yoga teachers and yoga teacher training

programs meeting these standards.

 

Yoga Alliance is seeking an innovative Chief Executive Officer (CEO) who,

together with the Board of Directors, will continue to lead the yoga community

through diligent maintenance of existing standards. The CEO will assist in the

responsible creation and implementation of new standards in accordance with the

YA mission statement indicating that YA will “lead the yoga community, set

standards, foster integrity, provide resources, and uphold the teachings of

yoga.”

 

 

Additional responsibilities offer the CEO the opportunity of providing

educational and other resources to yoga students and teachers, and promoting

traditional and modern yoga practices.

 

The CEO represents Yoga Alliance to the yoga community and the general public.

The CEO has responsibilities in the areas of strategic planning, registry

growth, budgeting and financial planning. The CEO supervises a staff of seven

and interacts frequently with several consultants to Yoga Alliance. The CEO

oversees and manages standards implementation, including initial registrations,

renewals, and evaluation of program effectiveness.

 

Candidates for the position should have:

 

Management or senior staff experience with non-profit organizations, preferably

those in the health, fitness, or public charity fields.Strong writing skills,

experience in public speaking, and in appearing before television and radio

audiences.Experience in working with non-profit Boards, preferably organizations

with geographically dispersed directors. Experience in identifying emerging

events in which an organization has a stake and in developing strategies to

address those events.Organizational development experience with organizations

that have successfully transitioned to the next level.A knowledge of and

interest in yoga, including ways in which yoga can improve overall wellness.

Yoga Alliance offers a generous salary and benefits package consistent with

those of comparable organizations in the Washington metropolitan area. A

successful applicant can anticipate a salary in the low to mid $100K.

likely participate in that transition.
