Guest guest
First according to the Hatha Yoga Pradipika (classical) Is Kapal bhati not a pranayam but a Shatkarma, but this is not so important. More important, is what different practices; Asanas, Herbs etc do to our body and Mind. kapal bhati is breathing more rapidly like the bellows of a blacksmith , again according to classics. Now let's look at this practisce with clear eyes. There are some practices that create heat, energy and vacuum. Like there are herbs that create the same. As you know, everything in the universe is ruled by opposites. Hot-cold, dry-oily etc. Kapal Bhati and also Bhastrika, because of the speed and ritme of forced breathing, creates an energy and up going force in the body. Now, what we are trying to achieve with a patient suffering from HBP, is to bring the Vata and pitta down. By relaxation and Herbs that are slightly cooling the mind (which is always very hot in those suffering from HBP). Also other products like Chandrakalaras, Raktashanti, Sumedha, Su-Hriday etc. are used. There are other practices that are safe, because of their calming and slowing- down effect. So why running the risk by advocating practices that are slighty tricky, if a patient follows these practices without proper guidance. Better be safe than sorry, no? You are right, when you say, that the net have many opposing views and that the ultimate truth is self experience. ps. I also looked up Swami Satyanandas : " Asana Pranayama Mudra Bandha " just to be sure.
