there is no notion of triglycerides (TGs) in Ayurveda

it is not recognized as a clinical entity and neither should it be in

modern medicine because it is no more a disease than it is an

arbitrary measure of fats in the blood

from a Western medical perspective, hypertriglyceridemia is part of

the insulin-resistant, compensatory hyperinsulinemic state referred

to as metabolic syndrome x

see: http://www.toddcaldecott.com/syn_X.html

in short, TGs increase when the diet is high refined carbohydrates

like white rice, white flour, sugar, sweets, and soft drinks

some will tell you that a high fat diet causes high blood

triglycerides, but this is not true

this is just more of the anti-fat nonsense that the medical/food

industry wants you to believe so will eat low fat and yet still have

to take lipitor, the #1 selling drug in the world

in fact, high carb-low fat diets are associated with high blood TGs

http://jcem.endojournals.org/cgi/content/abstract/42/4/729

since diet and exercise are the cure, there is no magic herb for

this, but classical antidiabetic formulations that protect against

arterial inflammation are useful, including herbs such as amalaki,

haldi and guduchi

High Triglycerides (TG) is not a disease but leads to so many other

dieases.

The triglycerides deposit themselves in visceral obese mass.

This causes reduced breathing due to constraints in the diphragm

movement. The consequences on blood oxygen leads to various CAD

problems.

Author found a good correlation between fat (read TG) deposits around

belly and situations such as diabetes, PCOS. This lead him to search

for a method to remove these deposits.

As Todd has written, diet and exercise definitely help.

But more express help is offered to needy through a five week

intensive program of diet and panchkarma, which was seen to reduce TG

to the extent of 10-20% without any medicine! Reduced reqirement of

Insulin dose, good control over blood sugar (even when meds were

missed for one or two weeks) were results which amazed this author.

The credit should go to the breathing technique too, which was taught

to the participant in person.

Lastly, walking with good breathing helped weight loss to the tune of about 10%,

which is adequate to regularise cycles for PCOS patients.
