Guest guest
Hi Azman, Neem trees (Azadirachta indica) also grow in Malaysia and are called pokok Mambu. In India neem is made into all sorts of products - powders, tablets, medicated wines and ghee. It is one of the Panchatikta (five bitters) herbs which are combined with the resin guggulu to make pills. All the parts of the plant are used, especially the leaves, seeds and bark. Neem is bitter and astringent, thus is very cooling and cleansing. It is well known as a blood cleanser, and used for many skin conditions, fevers and infections. It is also an insecticide, and has anti-lice and deworming properties. Research has found neem oil effective as a spermicide. The list of traditional uses is endless! The oil tends to be drying so needs to be mixed with an emollient if you want to use it as a moisturiser! Besides, it has a strong odour - a mix of nuts and garlic. Neem oil can be obtained from many suppliers, such as Kerala Ayurveda Ltd. Prices depend on quantity supplied. See http://www.keralaayurveda.biz/ Hope this helps.
