With the news this week that Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the famous Beatles

Guru and founder of the socalled TM movement, had passed away at the

age of 91 - I would like to use this moment of reflection to enquire

from the fellow ayurvedic members here how much they think his efforts

to spread the knowledge of Ayurveda through his " Maharishi Ayurveda "

for the past 20 years contributed to the growing global awareness of

Ayurveda that we see today?

It is my impression that OUTSIDE India, Maharishi Ayurveda was the key

instrument in the efforts to spread the knowledge of Ayurveda in many

systematic ways, that built the foundation for others to come after.

Its true Al. Before Maharishi Mahesh, hardly any one other than the countries

where Ayurveda has been into existence, knew about it. Whatever little people in

the western countries know about this system of medicine today, has been due to

the awareness created in the initial phase by him. He did this all without any

personal vested interests. We owe a lot to the man.
