Read entire article: > > http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/Opinion/Editorial/ > LEADER_ARTICLE_The _Truth_About_Models/articleshow/2708836.cms the correct link above is: http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/The_Truth_About_Models/articleshow/ 2708836.cms anyway, science isn't driven by a search for the ultimate truth so much as it is looking for more data and yes, the data-stream is infinite, but also it continually changes - call it a primary feature of samsara or prakrti as Lord Buddha point out, change is fundamentally at cause for much of human misery (dukha), because we fail to account for it in other words, as we study the data stream, it is constantly changing upon itself, and thus the more we look for some externally derived truth, the further we actually attain the fruit of our search - at best what we will have is a collection of changeable opinions of which we have a variable degree of confidence human society clearly needs a reference point, and so we rely upon externally-derived human constructs some of these, the best in my opinion, relate to living in harmony with our immediate physical environment, which is exactly what Ayurveda maintains as such, observing and celebrating the natural transitions of the earth, at the right time, is bearing witness to an amazing cycle that influences us to the core of our being as we have moved further and further away from living in this natural relationship, the more elaborate and inflexible our constructs have become, and by each degree these constructs have led us away from our relationship with the natural rhythms of the earth, sun and moon although not as obtuse as modern culture generally, the current practice of nirayana astrology is a case in point as a fixed zodiac, it is based on an astrological event that occurred hundreds of years ago, depending on who you listen to the difference in the position of the stars then and now is the basis of the ayanamsa, of which there are many unfortunately the current calculations used by all do not take precession into account, and it is on this basis that many scholars are suggesting a correction to the calendar: http://www.sas.org/tcs/weeklyIssues_2005/2005-04-08/feature2/index.html Caldecott todd www.toddcaldecott.com Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
