Guest guest
This discussion on Rahu kindled interest. Being a tamas (Maya) planet and always acting as agent of some other planet, Rahu gives rise to diseases which remain in dark for quite sometime, till their effects are felt in conspicuous ways. Rahu causes many ambushes to both patients as well as vaidya if they are under his influence. Vaidya keeps on experimenting and changes the approach before one approach can take hold. Patient wants quick remedy and keeps changing his healer even before the medicines of present healer take the hold. The affair is called " Bhramanti " or " Bhramana " , the Bhrama means doubt, exclusive area of Rahu. Rahu effects are not restricted to its dasha only, but also when he transits on native moon, ascendent lord, sixth house lord, sixth house cusp or sun, the karka for health/ascendent. Since Rahu is considered very rapidly growing in power (Ardhakayam Mahaviryam Chadraditya Vimardanam..sanskrit vedic mantra) Rahu rules those diseases which grow rapidly like cancer tumors. Those which give maximum symptoms after darkness are also credited to him. Especially those where pathogens grow rapidly in Aama. Rahu likes to enjoy fruits of efforts done by others..parasites for example. Diseases are caused by rahu if and only if Rahu is malefic for the subject. IF benific, Rahu will give rise to an astute physician who understands medicine beyond texts. Good Rahu teaches through experiences and generalization power. Good Rahu will unlock secret doors for the physician and he will be given new knowledge of chemistry. Thus Mars and benific Rahu will give rise to a skilled surgeon, while Mars and benifi Ketu will yield a physician with extra ordinary diagnostic skills as well as natural medicine expertism. Mars and Malefic Rahu will cause unnecessary surgeries, hemorrage, cheating in medicine etc Patents is the power of Rahu while Ketu tries to spread the beneficial knowledge, without asking anything in return! While Rahu wants power, starts forming associations, guilds, societies, Ketu shuns publicity, and is always after most fundamental spiritual universally applicable truth. Rahu likes to follow fixed rules acceptable to everyone through consensus, likes evidence based proovable techniques. doubt and scientific enquiry are the characteristics. Rahu likes to follow established pathways, and keeps asking evidence, since lack of trust(tamas) is its characteristics. Rahu creates ambushes and tries to exhaust the critics by causing time delays (appoint coommittes, enquiry commissions so that decision making is delayed, blame is thrown elsewhere) Ketu takes rapid and far reaching decisions without involving selfish interests. Ketu is for transparencies and clarity while Rahu is shrowded in mistries. While malefic Rahu is associated with underworld, touts, politicians, good ketu is associated with ascetics, saints etc. Exactly opposite, malefic ketu will give diseases which even a child can easily see, e.g. leucoderma, thalesmia, infertility etc Subject is without end, slightly difficult to understand. Whether science belives or not, some have written extensive texts in local languages on astrology and medicine, which turn out to be the truth even in modern days. There are many who diagnose based on chart alone in the absence of patient and have been successful. And as someone remarked, understanding medicine using principles of astrology gives a deeper insight, often leading to the ways acharyas dicovered plant properties. Modern Science and spiritual ayurveda/astrology are two poles apart. Scientists are now accepting that solar cycles, sunspot activities, fool moon/new moon have effects on our health, but science mindset vaidyas should now start accepting effect of cosmic radiations, UV rays, radiations on our health. Extreme colds and heat cause deaths of poor who do not have adequate warm clothes or a.c. homes. While science tells us about harmful effects of moving in the open when ecclipse is taking place, should we not think further than science? Learning ayurveda like a pathy or chemistry cant give deeper insight. There are herbs having same Veerya, Gunas etc, but they differ in some respects. Finer points are learnt by experience and carry over of knowledge from one generation to next. Many small practical points are never mentioned in texts. One example is in order. Curd(Yogurt) is generally contraindicated when there is intense itching. But there is one home remedy which become much effective when taken with yogurt!
