Guest guest
Andrea - This sounds like a case of Pomphylix Eczema. When the condition begins are the area itchy or painful? Are there any vesicles? Typically, Pomphylyx Eczema begins with a vesicular stage which is very itchy. This is then followed by a dry desquamating phase - at which time the itching is greatly reduced. The first attack is typically triggered by hot weather - many patients (like yourself) only have eruptions during the summer. Very much associated with excessive hand washing (a hazard of the job!). It must be differentiated from Fungus - since it is symmetrical and goes away with the change in weather it is probably not fungal Psoriasis - usually better in sunlight, not worse. Also, usually affects greater areas of the body,. The following information is all from Mazin Al-Khafaji. I have treated this condition very successfully using these ideas. Hand care is especially important. When treating dermatology it is sometimes necessary to overlook other presenting patterns in order to resolve the skin issues. Surprisingly, other things will often resolve even though you don't expect them to. Pompholyz Exczema at its root is generally a replete damp condition with a tendency to fire-toxins Initial stage (vesicular) Dran damp heat, clear fire toxin, stop itch Second stage continue above, disperse wind, remove very bitter damp heat herbs. Most common form: LV/GB Damp Heat w/ fire toxin Long Dan Cao 9 ZHi Zi 9 Bai Ji Li 12 Sheng Di 12 Lian Qiao 12 Mu Tong 9 Gan Cao 6 Huang Qin 9 Bai Xian Pi 12 Mu Dan Pi 9 Zi Hua Di Ding 12 Pu Gong Ying 12 Che Qian Zi 12 Many things one can do to personalize depending upon individual condition. Once condition resolves, regular the liver EXTERNAL TREATMENT: best if used w/ internal treatment Steam and then soak affected area 2 times/day for 15 -20 mintes - ONLY during acute phase Wang Bu Liu Xing 30g / Ming Fan 10g Also could be QI and Blood vacuity w/ fire toxin - fewer vesicles, mostly just dry Stubborn, fissured skin w/ few vesicles Itch tends to be mild/moderate; low vitality Sheng Di 15 - 25 Bai Ji Li 20 JinYin Hua 12 Ye Ju Hua 12 Dang Gui 9 He Shou Wu 12 Gan Cao 4 Mu Dan Pi 9 Chan Tui 9 Bai Hua She She Cao 15 Bai ZHu 12 Bai Shao 15 HUang Qi 15 HAND CARE Wash hands as infrequently as possible. Avoid soap or use very sparingly Dry hands VERY well with a clean towel or with Ming Fan. Shampoo, lotions, etc. should all be applied whilewearing plastic gloves or by somebody else Avoid direct contact with household detergents, cleaners etc. Wear cotton or plastic gloves when doing housework (or cotton under plastic) Avoid exposing hands to know irritants (fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, wool) Wear warm gloves in cold weather Use plastic rather than rubeer gloves (rubber can aggravate the condition) Wear cotton gloves under the plastic. Change gloves frequently COntinue to follow these instructions for 4 - 6 months after hands have healed. If you are interested in dermatology and ever have the opportunity to study with Mazin it is an excellent class - the best CE I have ever taken. Guest guest
Hi Marnae, When the condition begins, there is no itch or pain, and no vesicles or fissures ever appear. The skin is completely dry throughout all phases of the condition, but not pathologically dry except for the occasional moments the denuded area looks raw and pebbly - otherwise, my hands are not excessively moist or dry. The only signal I have that it's about to start is that the skin will thicken slightly 3-4 days before it starts to disappear, almost like a callus. I have read about pomphylix eczema before, and it doesn't sound like what I have, unless there are other forms. I do occasionally get a vesicular form of eczema which is very itchy with vesicles, in the cubital crease only. Mainly, I just put cold water on it when it first appears and it goes away - for months at a time. The formulae you sent are for internal use, yes? How may one contact Mazin for info about his classes? Thank you for your reply. Interesting that constitutional factors are often treated as secondary factors with dermatology - as if skin diseases are regarded as an external invasion of the skin. Blessings, Andrea Beth Marnae Ergil <marnae wrote: Andrea - This sounds like a case of Pomphylix Eczema. When the condition begins are the area itchy or painful? Are there any vesicles? Guest guest
Thank you again, Marnae. I used to get an itchy, vesicular rash on my toes that sounds like what you are describing here, but no longer. That one wouldn't exfoliate - it would get itchy, red, quite swollen, and painful, and last for months on end. That condition didn't follow me into the desert, fortunately. Before you go gonzo on a TCM differentiation run over to Wal-Mart and pick up a tube of " Equate Athlete's Foot Cream " (tolnaftate 1%). This is less than $5. Sounds to me that this is a fungus infection. If it is this cream will cure it almost immediately, although temporarily. If not, you will have ruled out skin fungus. If it is fungus you will need to use this stuff periodically through the season, as needed. Regards, Pete

Guest guest
Hello all, I have a peculiar skin irritation which I have been suffering from the past 2-3 years. No one has been to able to give a correct solution for the problem. Face, neck and hands specifically that portin those exposed to sunlight/air gets irritated when exposed to sunlight/air. It starts itching, skin becomes red, skin gets cut, then lymph juice comes out. Lot of changes keeps happenning to the skin. This is only in a specific area of the skin, not everywhere. Some doctors(allopathic) tell that as allergy due to sun light, it wasn't there earlier now it has come. They say it is like that for some period of time. After that it goes off. So I am really worried about it. Some doctors told it is dermatitis. They give some ointments, after I stop applying the ointments, it starts erupting again. In the same region of the skin. Particularly on the face. There are some spots in the neck region and hand too. Someone told me it is ringworm problem. I was told to apply aloevera which didn't work again. In general there is itching on the hands and around the neck. But that is not long lasting. It itches for sometime and then it goes off. Whenever it itches, skin peels off and lymph juice starts coming out. I have been taking ayurvedic medicines also. I am taking Maha Manjistadi Kashayam from around 3-4 months. But I don't see any change w.r.t this. External application which I have tried includes, 1. Jivantyadiyamakam 2. Safrozan 3. Pure Ghee 4. Aloevera/Aloegel Nothing works. Infact it agrevates. So I have stopped applying anything at all. Can anyone suggest what could be the problem, what I can do about it. Any help in this regard is highly appreciated. Thanks and Regards, Pushpa

Guest guest
My own experience about skin problems is that if one ate about five helpings of seasonal fruits and vegetables, raw or semi cooked with minimum of added ingredients, and drank enough water frequently, say a minimum of about two litres per day of 24 hours and also did pranayams especially Kapaalbhati and Anulom-vilom for 15 minutes each morning and evening on an empty stomach, most of skin problems can be overcome. Of course, this is in addition to the expert advice of learned vaidyas on line. S. M. Guest guest
Dear readers Skin diseases are manifestations of systemic malfunction or disorder. Ayurveda has advocated repeted Shodhana [ Vamana, Virechana etc.] therapy. It is my personal view that shodhana and ingestion of Ayurvedic medicines should be given for skin problems. Any local application should be avoided as far as possible. Local application may give us fast result but that may mask the real problem. For Sun rays allergy I have given medicine for ingestion and avoided local application and I got satisfactory results. If any body has interest for more information should see case studies in my website. Guest guest
A lot of local applications are told in anciant scripts. local application is a must in case of blisters, oozing type of skin disease. Marisadi thailam, avalgujathi lepam , kungumathi lepam all are needed according to patients conditions. Ajeya's view coincides with homeopathic principle many skin disease requires both external and internal medications.
