Hi...I do have leucoderma all over the body. I heard kerala ayurvedic

(some good ones) have promising cure. Does anybody know of good

ayurvedic centers in Kerala.

In addition to the opinion of learned vaidyas and

doctors on line, I would suggest a simple method of

doing some pranayams and taking some medicines as

suggested by Baba Ramdev or his Vaidyas who are

available in almost all district towns at the

Patanjali Chikitsalayas. There are reports of hundreds

of such patients getting cured, although it does take

time, there being no quick fixes for your kind of a

problem

Wishing you good luck and speedy recovery,

hi maran,

i have only worked with condition a few times, but in a couple cases

i did get some success by working on the liver

the primary herb i used was turmeric, which is perhaps no surprise

considering that its Sanskrit name " varna " refers to the color and

complexion of the skin

another herb i had some success with was barberry, which has a

similar function by restoring proper liver function, which in turn

supports the skin

conventional therapy consists of PUVA, and as an alternative you can

take herbal psoralens such as Psoralea coryfolia (2 g) with

Picrorrhiza kurroa (2g) twice daily, and expose your body to sun for

15-20 minutes a day

vitamin D3 has also showed promise as it stimulates melanocytes;

other important nutrients include a multimineral/trace mineral,

retinol (vitamin A), vitamin C, vitamin E and essential fatty acids

strict avoidance of alcohol and drugs, as well as refined foods would

seem important

emphasize lots of leafy green vegetables and whole grains such as

oats that are rich in silica, which is integral to skin health

i agree that pranayama and yoga may help - one anecdotal report i

heard was that applying cow dung daily and performing 108 surya

namaskars each morning had a curative effect , but this obviously

would take quite a commitment

subhutu dharmananda has a good page on chinese herbs and vitiligo:

http://www.itmonline.org/arts/vitiligo.htm

good luck...
