Strokes or Snopes

Dear Cybervaidya

It would be nice to know whether or not the stroke treatment offered by one of

the list members is legitimate or not - the original post simply asked for

opinions, no one has offered an opinion and therefore when a friend sent me the

snopes entry I wondered if the original email was testing the practitioners on

the list to see if they would consider this a genuine treatment or not -

I would very much like to know if this is a genuine treatment - as a nurse if i

can save a life or help someone not suffer the consequences of stroke - which I

see every day - then I want to know - isn't important to see if lives are to be

endangered or not?

To me it is very important. To be able to minimize the often crippling effects

of a stroke would be wonderful - in my homeopathic training I remember the

teacher instructing us not to move or talk to or demand a response from the

patient in order to allow the brain to recover from the CVA - whereas the

" orthodox " treatment is quite demanding in response expectations.

Can you please open this query again to see if this is a genuine treatment or a

hoax?

Can the Drs here please give us their opinions or their knowledge on this

subject and or alternative treatments!

Best,

Jane

The part about pricking the fingertips seems legit to me. I am not

sure about the other parts. I would suggest checking with an

acupuncture site or a Chinese medicine site. Personally, I do not

trust snopes for a lot of natural healing issues.

I do know that in Chinese medicine the fingertips relate to the top of

the head. Basically, you would prick the fingers and then let the

fingertips bleed. This is letting the blood flow through the head and

" unclogging " the circulation in the head. It would only take a couple

of minutes to find a pin and prick. It seems like a low risk method

compared to possibly being paralyzed for the rest of one's life.

Sai Ram. I would suggest that the fingertips be squeezed and relaxed

alternately to stimulate pumping action. That should help. And for

people like nurses and doctors, Reiki and Quantum Touch etc. are useful.

Regards.

I am sure that such techniques have been used since ancient times. The

technique of pricking the fingers and drawing blood is used around the

world to reduce blood pressure instantly in hypertensive crisis.

Similar techniques are pricking the big toes, inserting supposatories

or other objects into the rectum, injecting small amounts of oils or

other substances (like a ginger bolus)into the rectum, pinching the

flesh between the thumb and first finger, vigoursly rubbing the feet

or hands, American Indians used feathers to mildly tickle the soles of

the feet they also used feathers to sweep the energy down the spine.

All of these techniques are to bring the energy down out of the head.

I once saw a traditional healer in Indonisia vigoursly sweep his hands

down the spine of a person who had fallen and hit her head, he said he

wanted to avoid the energy getting stuck in her head. Another

technique to bring the energy down is to tape a garlic clove to the

sole of the feet or to crush a garlic clove in oil and massage the

feet with this, within a few minutes you can smell the garlic on the

breath, garlic opens channels and allows a free flow of energy, this

particular technique is probably contraindicated in stroke. These

ideas are common sense and easy to understand.

Someone mentioned that asking questions of a collapsed person should

not be done, I agree with this, if someone suddenly radically loses

energy or collapses, it is not necessary to ask any questions, call

for emergency help immediatly, ask questions later. Liz
