Guest guest
Hi,I am new here! Just joined tonight as a recommendation of another health group.I am on short chain fatty acid enemas for my diversion colitis and my GI does not know alot about them.He even had to go online to RX the correct mixture of butyrate acid and propionic acid. What I am concerned about,it how " chemical " are these type of enemas???? Even the mayo clinic has not been of much help on this as it is a newly discovered treatment. Is the structure similar to the fatty acids found in fecal matter or purely chemical?? Are they harmful if used longterm? Thankfully I am sceduled for a reversal of the ileostomy, but it is iffy the surgery will be a success due to major adhesions from 6 operations.I would appreciate any info or opinions anyone has to offer,as finding info on these even online has been a sruggle. THANX AND HELLO EVERYONE!!!
