Tooth Infection

Dear Vaidyas:

During my last visit to a dentist, they told me that I have two

bacteria-infected teeth that need to be drilled and filled. Another

dentist even recommended root canal treatment for both of them. The

former dentist, who recommended tooth fillings only, said that the

infection has not gotten to the nerves yet, so tooth filling should

take care of the issue.

I have already had really bad experiences with tooth fillings and

root canals in the past. I do not want to go through the same ordeal

again. Any foreign material introduced to the body is ultimately

harmful.

So, I was wondering if Ayurveda/Yoga recommends any therapies to

iradicate the infection from the teeth. I switched to an Ayurvedic

toothpaste (Vicco Vajradanti) after learning about the harmful side

effects of fluoride toothpastes. I have even tried using neem twigs

occasionally. The problem is that the place where the infection is

almost unreachable with any toothbrush -- whenever I use a floss to

clean that place, blood comes out of the gums near that place (in

between the teeth). So, I am really running out of ideas. I have

tried chewing raw sesame seeds in the mornings, but that did not

improve the condition -- the infection is still there.

I heard from a few friends that Ramdev Baba recommends brushing your

nails in one hand against the other to improve health of your teeth.

They even said that many people grew a tooth or two back by doing

that (and Pranayama)! I am still suspicious if yogic practices can

take care of an infection that has been there for months.

So, please advise what I should do -- keeping in mind that the place

of the infection is hardly reachable.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Nilesh
