Dear Raju,

There is no cure but causalgic neuropathic patient

always seeks ayurvedic treatment in the hope for

reducing painful symptoms.

To my understanding RSD occurs as a result of

ineffective healing following an injury to nerve or

soft tissue. It is an excessive immune response, due

to poor " Prana flow " , a condition common amongst

people with smoking, diabetes or circulatory problems.

Since pain has been a major concern therefore a

combination of conventional care with ayurvedic

approach is advised. Ayurvedic treatment always

focuses on Tridosha balancings. In RSD Vata (Pain) and

Pitta (swelling, burning and sweating) has to be taken

care.

Ayurvedic Panch karma procedures (such as herbal

massage with Shatbala Prasarni Taila, Pitta balancing

with supplements like Omni flow), herbal & oily enemas

are suitable for persons with RSD. Yogic support with

gentle Pranayama and relaxation is always needed.

Special ayurvedic diet such as Moonga Khichari with

little ghee, ginger and turmaric is also beneficial.

The minimum duration of treatment is Panch karma

therapy for two weeks + supplements for 60 days.

Some Ayurvedic preparations are quite effective but

being Mercury & Gold preparations, are not approved by

US FDA.

Beneficial Supplements are always individualized:

(i) Boswellia and Guggal are natural anti-inflammatory

agents.

(ii) Ashwagandha Root it is a nervine sedative,

anti-inflammatory, tonic and adaptogen. It boosts the

immune system and is a calming stress reliever "

(iii) Turmeric and Ginger are effective

anti-inflammatory.

(iv) Stevia is effective in treating RSD.
