Nasal Polyp and it's Treatment

Nasal polyp is one of the commonest problems among the people, which go

unnoticed because of the ignorance of the people.

 

 

 

The polyp is nothing but a growth and one of the places where it is seen

being the nose. A polyp is a painless growth and in Ayurveda it is called

as " Naasaarsas " . If the polyp is found to occur in the turbinate part of

the nose then it is very painful.

 

 

 

The vaataadhi doshas vitiate the twak, mamsa and medas in the nose and

produce growth, which is known as Naasa arsas or the polyp.

 

 

 

The symptoms being headache, continues sneezing, running nose, foul smell

from the nose, nasal voice and difficulty in breathing. It is of different

varieties based on the dosha namely Vataja, Pittaja & Kapha.

 

 

 

If the polyp is due to the vitiation of the Vata dosha then the polyp is

tender on touch, soft means due to pitta & if it is due to kapha then it's

nature is with discharge & itching.

Nasal Polyp is treated both with internal and external

medications. Panchakarma therapy includes sodhanam by Nasyam [nasal

medication], Dhoomam Nasa pichu and kshara prayoga.Internal medication

includes Samanam [pacification]with Gulgulu.
