Guest guest
Congratulations to the tribal peoples of the Niyamgiri mountain range in eastern Orissa, that yesterday won a court injunction against a company that sought to mine the traditional territories of the Dongri Kond for a mineral called bauxite. Researchers say that the protected lands house some of the world's most endangered species including the Bengal tiger, Asian elephant, giant squirrel, pangolin, four-horned antelope and the very rare golden gecko. Such victories are few and far between, and so this is something we can all take pause to celebrate! http://news.independent.co.uk/world/asia/article3191526.ece Caldecott todd www.toddcaldecott.com
