HI Rochelle,

Do you have a better description of the type of headache you are experiencing?

Where does it start? What triggers it? Are they periodic? Have you seen a

doctor.. any diagnosis? Are they migraine? Stress-headaches? Accompanied by

phelm? Any particular time of year? changing season?

There is a plentitude of solution, but you'll need to start with providing more

details :-)

Let the group know and I'm sure you'll have some recommendations,

Prashant

I'm wondering if its not part of caffine addiction-I get them every

morning. Nothing has ever helped apart from excedrin (which as

caffine in it-that's the only caffine I go near) They are usually in

the temple area, although I have had some that come with pain in the

back of the head, near the neck. I do have migraines maybe once a

month or every other month. They are not really seasonal or " monthly "

or anything like that. I guess I'm more or less wondering if there

are any herbs or anything I can take that would help. I have seen my

pcp a few years back but he wanted to give me a type of anti-

depressant and I am far from depressed! I live in a very small town

so going to see an ayurvedic physician is not possible. I hope that

helps :)

Regular use of Neti-pot cleansing will help tremendously and overtime reduce

this need for the caffeine as well, while clearing and energizing the neck-up

part of the body.

Other options include using Triphala and/or Isabgol in your diet.

caffeine is definitely linked to headaches, as it causes the

constriction of cranial blood vessels

usually the effect is related to a rebound response that happens some

time after, eg.

caffeine - > constriction -> rebound dilation -> headache

coffee also tends to weaken the liver, and so liver support is

probably one direction to go

all of your symptoms suggest the origin is the liver, and so i would

put my focus there

for one thing, try substituting the coffee for dandelion coffee

then, take some bitter, liver clearing herbs such as gentian root,

barberry or turmeric

gentian is the main herb in a chinese herbal formula i have used a

lot for migraines, called 'long dan xie gan wan

in ayurvedic terms these herbs clear heat from liver - typical dose

might be 2 caps thrice daily before meals

headaches can also be caused by congestion, and so the advice of

pranayama is warranted

however, you can also try a simple of dried ginger root (in

capsules), 2 caps thrice daily

it can help with vessel spasm and promote/equalize blood flow in the

body

you can take this with the gentian

also consider some omega 3 fatty acids, since these decrease

inflammation, and make sure you drink sufficient water throughout the

day

just a couple simple suggestions
