Guest guest
Hello Vaidya Upadhye I find your statement " I would have definitely like to discuss the issue raised by you if you are related with any pathy of Medicine. " utterly non-sense. A surgeon never says to his patient, " I will explain this operation only if you have knowledge of medicine " . It is his duty to explain the procedure in layman's language as much as possible so that all the doubts are cleared. Regards Rajeev Upadhye _____________ One thing we must bear in mind that there are 'n' number subjects of knowledge which we never never get in touch in our whole life. Guest guest
Rajeev, There are many " levels " of discussion that are to be had. The doctor cannot, is not able to explain to the patient the inner workings of all medicines involved during an operation. A high-level and big-band overview of the surgery is covered with the patient, it covers " popular " symptoms, post-surgery trauma/expectations and even THOSE are " popular " i.e. you may or may not see those and inevitably the use of " pain-killers " is prescribed through-out the recovery process, without clearly explaining the side-effects and long-term effects of those to the patient. Proof of this is the long-term debilitating effect that surgery patients will have on the kidneys, leading to blood-pressure and neprho-issues often times, in the form of bladder control, etc. An overview may always be in order, but the details, is always a block-diagram view. This is not an anti-surgery statement, but personal experience after having spent many many days/months supporting my father and friends' surgical times, including my own under the knife. I actually have a strong med background compared to a layman as i was a premed student and doctor's are still reluctant to include details of the medicines/etc used esp on the workings of medicines, primarily because not all levels and secondary effect levels are known. _______________________ A surgeon never says to his patient, " I will explain this operation only if you have knowledge of medicine " .
