finnland it is customary to use the sauna, as they say it helps with the

body and helps with the mind. can you tell me an ayurvedic reasoning for why

the finnish find this recreation so necessary in their life. of course the

climate is much different there with extreme cold and also very little

sunlight at times. obviously the need for heat is a need to counteract what

dosha force by the way?

Sauna is a very great self-nurture in many places including India. Other forms

of self-nurturing heat include Sun-baths, steam, etc.

In my limited knowledge, the heat forces sweating which clears out the pores

allowing better exchange of topical gases/elimination of toxins through the

skins. It also spurs growth of new cells (not sure how) and helps clear

out/replace the old dead cells by loosening them (skin gets soft in heat). The

over all effect on skin is also rejvenating and younger-look.
