I wouldn't give baby anything sweet including banana because then

they develop a liking for sweets and only sweets. Try sweet potato

cooked and mashed, or squash, and then proceed from there.

Traditional cultures often gave a lacto-fermented gruel to babies.

Hope this helps!

My son is now 8 months old and eats all kinds of veggies. I give him

some raw by putting them in the blender with a little water.

Hello, congratulations on your baby! I had a baby like this that wouldn't

latch on to the breast and was too sleepy and lazy to eat and would fall

back to sleep. She lost a lot of weight after birth in the first month and

it was very scary. I was able to turn it around and now have a healthy

robust baby. A couple of things that I was taught by La Leche League here

(an organization in the US that promoted breastfeeding and helps mothers

with latching problems, etc):

1. one can express (by hand pump) the milk and then syringe feed to the

baby- this takes time and effort but is worth it and the baby will be more

interested in feeding on mother's milk vs formula so it will help with

getting the baby to eat and gain weight. The trick is to kindle the baby's

appetite (agni) and teach the baby to be interested in eating

2. the expression of the milk will help with the breast tenderness

issue and can help restore the proper flow of milk (if baby hasn't been

latching, then milk flow will diminish making it again harder for baby to

take to the breast). The key is to keep the milk supply up. I was

expressing my milk and feeding by syringe every 2.5 hours in the first

month.

3. try to completely empty the breast each time and work with the baby

until she finishes the full amount (better to feed more at once and then give

digestion a rest in between feedings and chance to build up hunger than to

do constant feeding of little amounts)

4. garlic in diet can turn baby off to milk- go with more satvic spices

like coriander, saffron, cumin ok in food

5. fenugreek most effective in building up milk- make sure getting good

amounts of fenugreek in tea and food

Hope this helps!
