Guest guest Posted November 4, 2007 Report Share Posted November 4, 2007 hi i was taking jatamansi and gotu kola (centenela asiatica) as mixture powder, jatamansi 2 times more than gotu kola. i keept it under tongue for 20min-half hour before swallowing it. in the begining it didn't work all the time, some nights i could sleep, some i could not or i had only few hours. after some time it was more working than not. after a year i didn't need it anymore, sleeples nights were history. now i don't take it anymore, except in case of " emergency " when for some special reason i cannot sleep (like travelling to a new place or before important test...), and it works most of the times . this mixture is very good for pitta insomnia, with heat sensation or other pitta signs. for vata reasons, papaverum somniferum seeds, tilia cordifolia or aswagandha might help. try also the yoga nidra methods or yogic complete relaxation before going to sleep, laya yoga to calm the mind and put you in aplha state. __________________ How long does it take for Jatamansi to work once you start taking it? I have been trying it to help me sleep me now for a couple of weeks and so far it isn't working. Are there other things I can try? Take a good head massage Place a cotton gauze dipped in bringamalaka oil on your head. Guest guest Posted November 6, 2007 Report Share Posted November 6, 2007 To get a good deep sleep, your body must be realaxed & mind must be stressless, so before going to bed , wash your face & hands with fresh water, so that you feel relax; meditation & pranayam is the best the option, you can Fresh corriander juice 2 tab.spoon+1/2 tab spoon sugar for the good sleep, shirodhara, Bhrami vati,sarpagandha vati like ayurvedic medicines can be used .
