Guest guest
Dear Vaidyas: I have been thinking of trying out the auto-urine therapy (other names: Amaroli/Shivambu) for my mental condition (Schizophrenia) as nothing else seems to be working. My panchakarma is scheduled sometime in February of the next year. So, I am hoping to get some relief by the auto-urine therapy in the meantime. The concern I have is that many of my friends tell me that it is Tamasik and that unless they are forced to do it, they will not pursue it. So, that has me worried. I asked another Vaidya and he said that it is not at all Tamasik, but I wanted to confirm with the group as well. Could you please tell me if such a therapy is in the mode of ignorance/tamas or not? Thanks a lot, Matt

Dear Matt This therapy you can stir into any type you want by adjusting your diet. What the therapy does is just give you in micronutrient form the food that you eat. In this therapy, you get in urine what you eat, and therefore, you become what you eat finally. The concepts are already explained at: http://health.ayurveda/message/11544 there are 12 posts by this author on " urine therapy " by this author, which discuss these poisnt. all of these can be accessed by clicking on http://health.ayurveda/messages and then type " urine therapy " in search box. Matt - I am sure you will get mixed opinions on this subject but in my opinion a person with Schizophrenia should not do Shivambu. An important contributing factor in Schizophrenia (especially if there are sensory symptoms like auditory or visual anamolies) is the adrenal chemical Adrenochrome and it's metabolite Adrenolutin - Adrenolutin is the primary cause of many of the symptoms of Schizophrena - it is eliminated through the kidneys and taking Shivambu would simply recycle this toxin - this is true of many toxins - if you eat non-veg or take drugs then this would be further contraindication for Shivambu. Panchkarma done under the supervision of an experienced practioner will definately help you to remove many layers of the toxins which are causing symptoms as well as balancing Doshas which are the underlying cause of the disease process. Adrenochrome is helpful in brain chemistry but if it is not metabolized properly then it creates a chemical called Adrenolutin - which is a dangerous toxin in excess. This is a big subject but I agree with Dr Hoffer that these chemicals are important players in spiritual development and the many transcendent experiences that spiritual adepts have but these chemicals should not be elevated in normally toxic individuals because only the pure should go for spiritual attainment otherwise big problems can arise - these chemicals Adrenochrome and Adrenolutin are important players in pathologies of Kundalini - these chemicals are best not stimulated in ordinary people - and if they become elevated best clear them from the body. Meet with a Vaidya and let them give suggestions on your particular case. Manasamitra vatakam has been used for many different brain diseases - Shankapushpi is also excellent taken at night with warm milk - the key for you should be to remain as steady as possible (avoid stressors)until you do Panchakarma. In your disease it is very important to take Panchakarma under a very experienced practioner since I have seen inexperienced practioners over drain the case creating even further disturbances in Vata making symptoms worse. Do not fast or do other severe cleansing practices - enemas, purgation, breathing exercises - on your own. It is important to avoid anything that stimulates adrenal (catecholomine) reactions as this will further agravate Adrenolutin problems. Here are two links to Adrenochrome - one is an Erowid piece refering to modern understandings on these issues - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adrenochrome http://www.erowid.org/chemicals/adrenochrome/adrenochrome_info1.shtml
Guest guest
Dear Sir I am not a Vaidya but a simple user of the urine therapy. I know that some mental conditions are generated by body impurities. Before starting the urine therapy you need to take 3 steps: Step 1 - clean your kidneys, clean your stomach and clean your liver. It is very important because if you don " t , the intake of fresh (not boiled) urine may cause vomiting. Step 2 - change your diet. Before urine intake you must exclude meat and all its products, milk and all its products, eggs, tea and coffee, pepper, salt, mustard and everything that may give a bad taste or odor to your urine. Consume more fruits and vegetables. Step 3- Renounce all medicine that you took before starting the urine therapy, even if it is very important to you because every medicine passes into urine and you may be poisoned by such a urine. Two weeks before starting urine therapy your body needs to eliminate all medical products. In the case of a regular use of a medicine you need to consult your doctor to have his advise on how to renounce of it. Urine therapy is a very good way of cure oneself and gives good results if you start it right. Good luck __________ I have been thinking of trying out the auto-urine therapy (other names: Amaroli/Shivambu) for my mental condition (Schizophrenia) as nothing else seems to be working. Guest guest
Hi So far, I have mostly been trying to follow an ayurvedic detox diet seriously. So, I have been eating Khichari only for last 3 months. Taking triphala and cow-urine in the mornings. Although I did not see much of an impact on my mental symptoms due to the diet, herb, and cow-urine (been taking for last one month only), I have lost over 14 lbs of toxic weight and feel more energy than before. I know that Ayurvedic treatment takes a long time, so I need to be patient, but thought of trying auto-urine therapy out anyway after reading so much about it. As I mentioned in my original email, a Panchakarma session is scheduled anyway 3 months down the road. Regards, Matt _____________________________ What ayurvedic/holistic/natural interventions have you tried?
