Guest guest
Eggplant is richer in nicotine than any other edible plant. However, the amount of nicotine from eggplant or any other food is negligible compared to passive smoking. see: Edward F. Domino, Erich Hornbach, Tsenge Demana, The Nicotine Content of Common Vegetables The New England Journal of Medicine, Volume 329:437 August 5, 1993 Number 6 The info is extracted from: <http://content.nejm.org/cgi/content/full/329/6/437? ijkey=09174147c440b96900667f3fef93fd3cd0100cee & keytype2=tf_ipsecsha>, small amount of nicotine helps people with asthma. ayurveda mentions usefulness of tobacco in some diseases, the main ingredient there being nicotine. Once in the blood stream, nicotine has immediate effect on anxiety, stress and boredom. Nicotinamide is one variant of B-vitamins. B-vitamins help nervous system. The damage occurs once person becomes addicted to nicotine. This is true for all herbs, as long as you take in small doses, the effects are beneficial. Many Vata balancing medicines confirm to this general principal, castor oil is another example. My son has been craving for egg-plant (cooked curry ofcourse) for the past 2 months & insisting me to cook it almost daily. Surprisingly he has never eaten it before. (FYI, he has eczyma (usually suffers only in spring) & allergic to wheat > and milk).
