Guest guest
Thank you for responding to my email/ post regrading male pattern hair growth without any detectable hormone imbalances. I am sorry for the delay in my response but I wanted to make sure I read everything I could before responding. Here are the answers to some of the questions you asked. I have have gained at least 30 lbs in the last 12-18 months. I do have a poor diet. I have eaten refined surgars, flours, carbs and yes craved them as well. I eat animal protein, but have decided to stop.I I have bloating and struggle with constipation. I have had a steadily decreasing menses, it as gone from five days to 1-2 days for the last 15 years or so. Recently my menstruation has lasted longer, 4 days, but is still light. As far as Truncal obesity, I haven't measured it but I definetly show the weight gain in the abdominal area. I do have a sedentary lifestyle. I have definetly struggled with chronic yeast infections and blatter infections for about six years. I have had swollen feat only two times. I haven't noticed any significant water retention otherwise. I wanted to let you know that the hair growth is not a new thing but the weight gain is. I have gained a lot of weight steadily for the past three years, but most of it has been within the last 12-18 months. My hair growth problem began when I was in college. I had three or four dark chin hairs. I was underweight then, about 107 lbs at 5'3. I had it checked out and they at first said I had low estrogen levels, almost menaposal. This was when I was about 19 years old. I also began having scanty menses then. I went from about five days to three days in duration. They wanted to put me on the Pill but I was always to harried to remember to talk it and I did not want to have sex before marriage so that was not an issue. About six months later my estrogen levels were fine on their own but the hair growth continued with more chin hair. Then it stopped altogether or I did not notice any changes for another five years. At that time my facial hair began to grow and I had many chin hairs. The doctors simply said this happens to some women or color. The hair growth went into another holding pattern or did not grow rapidly for another 10 -15 years. When I got married at age 29 the hairs began growing rapidly. I weighed only 107 lbs and did not have much abdominal fat. However, my menstruation continued to be scanty even declining to about 2-3 days a cycle. I have since steadily gained weight and the hair growth is growing out of control. I have almost a full beard and it is starting to grow on my cheeks now. I have a significant amount of chest hair that is growing in and this I am afraid to say has me extremely depressed. I thought there was nothing more that could happen to me but I was wrong. It looks as though all the hair on my body is going to go through another phase. All of my hair is growing courser longer and starting to curl? From the hair on my knuckles, arms, toes, legs, mustache, stomach, sideburns...everywhere. Do you think it may be too late to stop this? I will begin to loose weight and exercise immediately. I have started a colon cleanse program and will look around for other types of cleanses, liver, kidney etc. to detoxify my body. I'm not sure if you are in India, but I would like to go through Pancha Karma. Can you recommend a place there. I would like to be treated by a Vaidya if it is possible. Thank you for taking the time to read my email/post. Please inform me of where I can look more specifically for some internal cleansing. I have seen an an American practitioner and she informed me that I my constitution is Vata and secondarily Pitta. I believe my vikruti is primarily Vata. I have some tremors, vata insomnia, very dry skin, but I have not seen any significant darkening of areas around the joints. I have some liver spots I think, dark small circles growing in various parts of my skin. I'm not sure if the Practitioner can help me with this situation. Thank you again for your suggestions. Guest guest
After going through all the answers posted by you, it appears that you have advanced state of PCOS. IN PCOS, despite the name, it is not necessary that one should have cysts in ovaries, but it is very clear that androgens are driving the hair growth (hirsutism) and irregular/scanty/un-ovulatory periods. Other glands may also be involved, as glands work as an orchestra. Using more than one liver detoxes, medicated oil/ghrutam bastis and uttar bastis, and ayurvedic/panchgavya medicines based on bio- identical hormones, the problem can be reduced to an extent where it does not become even noticeable. Insulin resistance is the key target to be attacked. Having witnessed the success of patient specific panchkarma and medication in tackling these problems, author feels that you should either seek some experienced (having relevant experience) ayurvedist in neighbourhood, or visit India, where Panchgavya medicines are available and also wide choice of Vaidyas is available. Since there is no single herb/home remedy/panchkarma treatment that can tackle your total situation, you need to follow a guided protocol. _________________________ Here are the answers to some of the questions you asked.
