Dear Ala,

In the present scenario, it is not possible to treat tuberculosis without

antibiotics. However, the anti-TB treatment can be supplimented with Ayurvedic

regimes for better recovery and to avoid drug resistance.

Tuberculosis is caused by bacteria and not virus. Total cure of TB infection is

the only way to cure, otherwise repeated infections and drug resistance can be a

source of worry, besides the poor quality of life.

Dear Dr.Mukesh,

I am a state-registered Ayurvedic Consultant practicng since last 18 years. I am

still in want of ' a very good treatment in Ayurveda ' for tuberculosis after so

many years of ayurvedic practice.

Can you please give some general guide-lines of your Ayurvedic regime for

tuberculosis, so that they may be forwarded to W.H.O., for world-wide benefit of

TB patients.

W.H.O. - if you are referring to the World Health Organization this

organization is not well thought of in the west or in many other parts of

the world as it is considered that they have spread disease and poor

information and care to the detriment of many peoples of the earth and have

done little generally to increase the health of the population. Are you

connected with this group? Have you found their works beneficial?

For Vaidyas who do not worry if the name of the disease is known or

whether it is caused by virus, bacteria or fungus, treating a patient

is never a problem. Vata, Pitta Kapha in pulse guide them. Diagnosis

by 8 different means as discussed in ancient texts becomes a great

help. However, this needs patients presence. There are several

examples in archives where partial relief has been obtained by online

suggestions, but final cure requires face to face meet.

However, unless person is just standing in the doorstep of paradise,

Vaidya will always try to help. IF you do some research you will see

that Tuberculosis is a result of bacteria and not virus. The best

antibiotic without any side effects, safe even in these days is

Indian cow urine or its distillate. But not available outside India, Global

patent for its use is held by Indians.

Unfortunately, modern ayurvedists have closed there eyes for reasons

best known to them. This is just like diuretics are no more of

interest as anti-hypertensives.

Under the circumstances some grandma remedies are here for partial

relief. Some are from ancient texts. Do not try all. just see

what is possible in your circumstances. 6-8 months is what is needed

time. Keep worries and fear away.

Mix powder of Gokharu (Tribulus Terrestris ) or Ashwgandha (Withania

Somnifera) with honey, lick it and drink milk over it to cure cough.

Take 3 pills of Trifala gugal thrice a day.

Hope this is possible for you, in case getting above medicines is

difficult: If you can get goat milk, drink 200 gm goat's milk in the

morning and evening after adding little salt (2-4 pinches). This will

help to gain strength, remove cough easily avoid weakness. This is exceptional

remedy, as milk+salt is considered incompatible diet. Only insight of people

from Saurashtra, Kathiawad and Rajastan rigions of India has popularised such

exceptional remedies.

Take crystal sugar(big size), mix half the quantity of turmeric

powder in it. Take 1 tsp of powder along with honey 3 times a day to

cure fever, cough and cold. These symptoms are generally present in

the beginning stages.

Take equal proportions of dates, raisins, crystal sugar, ghee, honey

and long pepper, make a paste of it. By licking 25 grams of this

paste daily helps to get relief from cough and breathing problem.

Eating fresh butter with honey helps to treat T.B.

Put 10 to 20 drops of garlic juice in 25 to 30 gm of Ardusi leaves

juice and drink it daily in morning and evening to cure T.B.

Basil is ideal. If you get holy basil leaves, this provides best home

remedy compared to all above. But author would let you know only if

you have this plant in your house.

Lastly, the ghee mentioned in above remedies is made from indian cow milk, by

traditional process only. This process is time consuming, but yields ghee having

more potency as medicine. Unless otherwise mentioned, milk is also indian cow

milk.

these are suggestions, to be discussed with your healer. Details of how long,

when to stop, how many remedies should be tried, he will decide. Turmeric is now

of much interest as anti-cancer herb to western researchers. Its effectiveness

is discussed in archives.

Dear Jane,

I referred to W.H.O. because it is the organisation which decides the world-wide

policies about health which the doctors (state registered) have to abide with.

the anti-tubercular antibiotic regime is the only assured source of cure,

whatever bad side-effects it may be having. If the Ayurvedic cure is really

worth it, then it can be definitely implemented all over the world. That was my

view.

No, I am not connected with this organisation. But however any rules set forth

by W.H.O. which are implimented by the Indian Government is to be followed by

me. I have to abide being a registered doctor.

The effect of herbs on our body is studied and recorded as empirical

knowledge in ancient texts and collective experience of generations.

Now if some one analyses a group of herbs producing similar effect and

finds some chemical X in all, one can say that chemical X has such a

property, when present with other components as well. Is this the

explaination for benificial action of the herb? This kind of querries

arise due to scientific mindset. Generally scientific analysis purpose

is to know which molecule is most active and can it be prepared

synthetically to secure a patent. Another purpose is in advertising the

drug.

In the particular case, the mucus forming tendency of the milk is

suppressed due to presence of salt. Salt causes milk proteins and whey

to separate and the benificial action of whey may be causing the

benifits. Salt also has a scraping tendency on mucus accumulated in all

passages, where ever it reaches. That is the reason it is used in Neti

water. In home remedies no one bothers why they work. One adopts them

based on faith handed down from one generation to next. Milk boiled

with turmeric powder, and salt/jaggery added just before drinking works

in similar manner in dry cough. Benificial properties of whey are

already discussed in archives.

Instead of salt, one can use jaggery too, the minerals in it giving

similar effect. Here jaggery must not be chemically treated to get good

color and remove its salty taste. The organic jaggery is rich in

minerals and has salty taste.

When incompatible mix is used as remedy, it is to be noted that it is to be used

for a short period only. In Charak Samhita, Chapte 1, " Aushadhi and Chikitsak " ,

Shloka

127, " Even venomous poison when administered properly as medicine becomes the

best of medicines

but when the best medicine is used improperly it becomes poison. " So use it

cautiously. We can offer only suggestions from the distance.

Thank you very much for taking the time to express your explanation.

I will research the archives to read more about the healing qualities

of whey.

When I started reading your post, I was wondering why you were

telling me about the scientific mindset to extract chemicals looking

for the panacea. And then as I continued to read how the salt

separates the milk proteins and whey, that the whey " may be causing

the benefits, " my mind jumped to, well then, why not just drink whey

and salt! However, I quickly came to my senses and realized why fix

something that's not broken.

I understand all the points you are trying to make, and it's very

much appreciated.

Blissfully yours,

Patti
